JEE (Advanced), 2019 girl topper is Bharatnayam dancer and pianist
Ahmedabad girl Shabnam Sahay, who has topped among girls in JEE (Advanced) 2019 examination, is also a Bharatnatyam dancer and a piano player. Sahay, who secured an all-India rank 10, recently did her 'Arangetram' - a debut on-stage performance of a former student of Indian classical dance and music. She equally enjoys music and dancing as much as she loves studying science. "I love science. I had Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology as my subjects in class 12. I used to study eight hours daily and in my leisure time, I used to practise Bharatnatyam and play piano," she told PTI. Sahay said she could have pursued music and dance as her career options, but she did not want to burden herself. "I want to enjoy them as I am passionate about them. Superstar Akshay Kumar on Friday urged his fans and followers to refrain from getting into "negative" discussions about his upcoming film "Sooryavanshi". The Mumbai Police in its closure report termed sexual harassment allegations levelled by Tanushree Dutta against Nana Patekar "false" and said accusations were levelled with "malicious intent"."There was a malicious intent and false complaint was filed by Tanushree Dutta against Nana Patekar," the Mumbai Police said in its closure report.The report said there was no mention of sexual misconduct in the complaints filed with CINTAA and TV Producers Associations. Sahitya Akademi announces winners of Bal Sahitya Puraskar, Yuva Puraskar
Sahitya Akademi, India's national academy of letters, Friday announced a list of 22 winners of the Bal Sahitya Puraskar and 23 recipients of the Yuva Puraskar for this year. The Executive Board of the Akademi, under the chairmanship of its President, Chandrashekhar Kambar, approved the selection of awardees in Agartala. While the Bal Puraskar will be conferred upon the winners on the Children's Day, the day for the Yuva Puraskar is yet to be decided. "For the Bal Sahitya Puraskar, the Awards relate to books first published during the five years immediately preceding the year of Award (between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2017). "However, during the initial 10 years (from 2010 to 2019), the award may also be given to an author based on his/her total contribution to Children Literature," according to a statement issued by the Akademi. In a bid to promote Indian languages, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has asked all satellite TV channels to display the casting, credits and titles of Hindi and regional language serials in the respective languages also. It has come to the notice of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting that several Hindi and regional language TV channels display the casting, credits, titles of Hindi and regional language TV serials only in English, an official statement said. This practise tends to deprive people versed with Hindi and regional languages of the valuable information about casting of TV serials or programmes, it said. "With a view to enhance outreach and benefit TV viewers of the country, the ministry has advised all private satellite TV channels to consider displaying the casting, credits, titles of Hindi and Regional languages TV serials in the respective languages also," the statement said.
