Decision in Tanushree's case was inappropriate, but can't help now: CINTAA

Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) said Tuesday it did not "address" Tanushree Dutta's sexual harassment allegation against Nana Patekar in 2008 but it extends support to the actor now. Dutta had filed a complaint with CINTAA a decade ago after she felt uncomfortable shooting a song with Patekar for the film "Horn Ok Pleassss". The actor has alleged the organisation did not pay heed to her complaint. In a fresh statement, CINTAA said it "strongly condemns any act that outrages the modesty of any individual and any form of sexual harassment is unacceptable to us." "After going through Ms Tanushree Dutta's complaint, which was filed with the then Executive Committee of CINTAA in March 2008, we feel that the decision taken in the Joint Dispute Settlement Committee of CINTAA & IFTPC (then known as AMPTPP) in July 2008 was not appropriate, as the chief grievance of sexual harassment wasn't even addressed." Sam Claflin to star in 'Charlie's Angels' reboot

Actor Sam Claffin has joined the cast of Sony's "Charlie's Angels" reboot. Claflin is re-teaming with his "Hunger Games" co-star Elizabeth Banks, who is directing and starring as one of the Bosley characters. Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou will play the other two Bosleys. Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska will play the Angels. The new draft of the script is written by Jay Basu and Banks, based on earlier versions by Craig Mazin and Semi Chellas. Renowned violinist Balabhaskar dead; Kerala CM pays homage

Noted violinist Balabhaskar, who was critically injured in a car accident, died at a private hospital here early Tuesday. Politicians and celebrities offered their condolences and paid tribute to the musician. Balabhaskar's two year-old daughter, Thejaswani, had died in the accident on September 25. His wife, Lakshmi, is undergoing treatment. The family was returning here from Thrissur after a temple visit when their car rammed a tree near Pallipuram. The 40-year-old musician had undergone a surgery. He was on ventilator support and suffered a massive cardiac arrest and passed away at 1 am Tuesday. Malayalam film director Thampi Kannanthanam passes away

Noted Malayalam film director Thampi Kannanthanam, who made many hit films in the 1980s and 90s, passed away Tuesday at a private hospital here, a hospital spokesman said. He was 65 and is survived by his wife and two children. Kannanthanam, director of smash hit 'Rajavinte Makan', starring Mohanlal, had been undergoing treatment at Aster Medicity hospital here for liver and kidney related diseases since September 22. His condition worsened this week and he was put on ventilator support. He died of a heart attack this afternoon, the hospital spokesman said. Beginning his career in the early 1980s, Kannanthanam directed many Mohanlal hit movies, including 'Bhoomiyile Rajakkanmar', 'Indrajaalam', 'Naadody' and 'Maanthrikam.'
