John Legend to coach in 'The Voice' season 16
John Legend is all set to join sixteenth season of 'The Voice' as a coach.The spot is currently held by Jennifer Hudson who will serve as a coach on Season 15, scheduled to debut on September 24. Legend will take over the spot in the following season that will be launched in spring.The 'All of Me' singer will be joining Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton. Commenting on this Legend said that he is thrilled to join the show. Hollywood actor Aaron Paul is all set to join the cast of HBO's "Westworld" for its third season.According to a report by Variety, while the exact details of Paul's role are being kept under tight wraps, it is believed that he will be a series regular on the show.'Westworld' was recently bagged 21 Emmy nominations for its second season, including 'best drama series award'. Sony Pictures Classics picks animated feature 'Ruben Brandt, Collector'
Sony picture classic now has North and Latin American rights to the animated feature Ruben Brandt, Collector.According to The Hollywood Reporter, directed by Milorad Krstic, the feature follows Ruben Brandt, a famous psychotherapist who is forced to steal paintings from some of the world's renowned museums and private collections and in return prevent his suffering from the nightmares he has as a result of subliminal messaging he received as a child.Later in the film, Brandt becomes the most wanted criminal in the world with Gangsters and headhunters chasing him. A cartel of insurance companies finally decides to hire Mike Kowalski, a private detective, to solve the "Collector Case."The film is penned by Krstic while Peter Miskolczi, Radmila Roczkov, and Janos Kurdy-Feher handled the production.
YouTube to develop LGBTQ Documentary
American Filmmakers Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman are collaborating with YouTube to develop the LGBTQ documentary 'State Of Pride'.The film will focus on the significance of Pride 50 years after the historic Stonewall riots. This is not the first time the two filmmakers have taken up this issue, their past works documenting the LGBTQ experience include the Oscar-winning 'Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt' and Emmy Award-winning film 'The Celluloid Closet'.The film will feature a series of interviews conducted by activist Raymond Braun. Braun will be traveling to major cities and rural towns across America, talking to individuals for whom the Stonewall riots mark a pivotal moment in their personal journeys.Susanne Daniels, global head of original programming at YouTube, said that the film features powerful conversations with inspiring individuals as they open up about Pride and how it has changed over the past 50 years.

Egypt to submit 'Yomeddine' for 91st Oscars
Egypt has officially chosen 'Yomeddine' to be submitted at the 91st Oscars under the 'foreign language film' category.According to The Hollywood Reporter, directed Abu Bakr Shawky, the film is about a Coptic leper and his orphaned apprentice, who leave the leper colony for the first time and go on a journey across Egypt to search their families.Penned by Shawky and produced by Desert Hig hway Pictures and Film Clinic, the film premiered in official selection at Cannes earlier this year, where it won the François Chalais Award.This is the second time Egypt has entered the foreign language film category of Oscars, the first time being in 1958, the film could not earn a nomination or a statuette.

An iconic oil painting by British artist David Hockney estimated to be worth USD 80 million is going on sale in New York, poised to set an auction record for the most expensive work by a living artist. Bengali film makers need to look back to literature: Biswajit
Veteran actor Biswajit Chatterjee has said the Bengali cinema is passing through a sad phase as the makers of mainstream movies are shifting from works based and inspired by literature. Films inspired or adapted from works of Rabindranath Tagore, Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay, Saratchandra Chattopadhyay and Bibhutibhusan Bandyopadhyay should be made, he said. "The present slide in Bengali cinema is due to the fact that what we are witnessing now are not true Bengali films... films that used to be made in the '60s and '70s," Chatterjee said Wednesday. Major Bengali films in his career included 'Chowringhee', 'Kuheli', 'Srimaan Prithviraj' and 'Jai Baba Taraknat'. "We need films like 'Belaseshe' made by the director duo of Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy which retained the rich legacy of Bengali cinema of our times having literary influences. 'Jab Jab Phool Khile' writer Brij Katyal passes away
Veteran film writer Brij Katyal, who penned the story of Shashi Kapoor-Nanda hit "Jab Jab Phool Khile", passed away Thursday afternoon at a hospice in suburban Bandra. According to scribe-director and his close associate, Anusha Srinivasan Iyer, Katyal was battling with cancer. "He was suffering from rectal cancer and was admitted to Shanti Avedana Ashram, where he died in the afternoon. He was around 85-86 years old," Iyer told PTI. "I had learnt the art of writing from him. It's a great loss," she added. One of the most accomplished writers of the film industry, Katyal also has writing credits to his name in many TV serials such as "Dillagi", "Saans" and "Pal Chhin", both directed by Neena Gupta. His stint in movies also include "Ajooba" and "Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi", among others. Katyal is survived by an adopted son. The last rites of the writer will take place at his Khandala residence.
