'A Star Is Born' set to open at Tokyo Film Festival
After receiving warm receptions at its premiere at the Venice Film Festival and the Toronto Film Festival, 'A Star Is Born' is all set to open the of the Tokyo International Film Festival.While the Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga-starrer remake of the musical romance will open the 31st edition of the festival, it will close with 'Godzilla: The Planet Eater', according to The Hollywood Reporter.The Tokyo International Film Festival is set to run October 25 to November 3.'A Star is Born' is a remake of 1937 film of the same name. The story revolves around a star who helps an aspiring young actress find fame while he struggles with his own demons.Directed by Cooper, 'A Star Is Born' is slated to hit the theaters on October 5.

'A Star Is Born' to open Tokyo Film Festival
Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga-starrer has been announced as the opening film of Tokyo International Film Festival. The film, which marks the directorial debut of Cooper, had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and was recently screened at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival. It will have a gala screening at Tokyo International Film Festival on October 25, the organisers said in a press release. The 31st edition of the festival will run from October 25 to November 3, 2018. Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita-directed animated feature "Godzilla: The Planet Eater" will bring the curtains down on the festival. The film is the third and final part in the animated "Godzilla" trilogy. The organisers also announced that Yukihiko Tsutsumi-directed "The House Where the Mermaid Sleeps" will have its world premiere at the festival on October 29.
Halle Berry to make directorial debut with 'Bruised'
Actor Halle Berry is all set to make her directorial debut with the mixed martial arts drama "Bruised". The 52-year-old Oscar winner will also star in and produce the project, reported Variety. The story follows a disgraced MMA fighter who has to face one of the rising stars of the MMA world and deal with the return of her 6-year-old son to the mother he deserves. The film's script has been written by Michelle Rosenfarb. Berry, who will be next seen in "John Wick 3", will work with the same team that executes fight choreography for the Keanu Reeves-starrer series. Basil Iwanyk will also produce the film alongside Linda Gottlieb.

Actor Said Taghmaoui has claimed that he was roped in by director Danny Boyle to play the villain in next James Bond movie. The 45-year-old actor, who has acted in films such as "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra", "Vantage Point" and "Wonder Woman", told Abu Dhabi-based newspaper The National that there is "uncertainty" over his casting after Boyle's departure from the project. Vincent D'Onofrio to star in Epix's 'Godfather of Harlem'
"Jurassic World" star Vincent D'Onofrio has joined the cast of crime drama series "Godfather of Harlem". The 59-year-old actor joins Oscar winner Forest Whitaker in the project which was given a straight-to-series order by Epix network early this year. The 10-episode show will narrate the true story of crime boss Bumpy Johnson (Whitaker), who in the early 1960s returned after 10 years in prison to find the neighbourhood he once ruled in shambles. D'Onofrio will play Vincent "Chin" Gigante, a former professional boxer, who is considered dimwitted and who works his way from enforcer/hitman to top boss of the Genovese crime family, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Whitaker will also serve as an executive producer via his company Significant Productions. Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein will serve as writers and executive producers. Production will begin later this year with an eye towards a 2019 premiere.

Oscar winner Viola Davis has regretted working in the critically acclaimed film "The Help", saying she had issues with portrayal of its lead character. Davis, 53, had portrayed black maid Aibileen Clark in Tate Taylor's period drama for which she had received a Best Actress nomination at the 84th Academy Awards.
