CBS leaves accused CEO in place, for now
US television giant CBS has announced that it would select outside lawyers to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct lodged against CEO Leslie Moonves but declined to take further immediate action on his fate. Moonves, who transformed CBS into a ratings winner after joining the network in 1995, is one of the most powerful American men implicated in the #MeToo era that ignited last year after the career implosion of Harvey Weinstein. A New Yorker article published Friday revealed allegations from six women who said Leslie Moonves sexually harassed them between the 1980s and late 2000s. Four described forcible touching or kissing during business meetings, and two said Moonves physically intimidated them or threatened to derail their careers. "CBS Corporation announced today that its board of directors is in the process of selecting outside counsel to conduct an independent investigation," it said in a statement. "No other action was taken on this matter at today's board meeting." .

Hollywood star Chris Pratt and his co-stars from "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise have released an open letter in support of James Gunn, who was sacked after some old, offensive tweets by the director surfaced. Censor board chief Prasoon Joshi said today the "Kashmir" references from Tom Cruise's "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" were asked to be removed as the integrity of India's borders is "non-negotiable". He said the map shown in the film "misrepresents the boundaries of Jammu and Kashmir". "The CBFC has advised the applicant of the film 'Mission: Impossible 6' that the map shown in the film misrepresents the boundaries of Jammu and Kashmir and should be either rectified or removed. They had also referred to Kashmir as 'India-controlled Kashmir' which we have asked them to correct as the 'Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir'. "Integrity of our country's borders are non-negotiable and cannot be compromised on for the sake of entertainment," Joshi told PTI. Paris prosecutors have opened an inquiry after a young woman posted a shocking video of a man punching her in broad daylight outside a cafe after she angrily responded to his sexual harassment, legal sources said today. Former FTII director John Sankaramangalam passes away
: Veteran filmmaker and former director of Film and Television Institute of India, John Sankaramangalam, passed away at a private hospital in Thiruvalla today following age-related ailments. He was 84 and is survived by his wife, son and daughter, family sources said. A multi-time recipient of national and state awards, Sankaramangalam, known for his experimental movies, had directed a handful of films and documentaries in his career. "Aval Alpam Vaikippoyi", "Janmabhoomi" and "Samantharam" were among his directorial ventures. Hailing from Pathanamthitta in central Kerala, he was also active in writing dramas during his college days. After quitting his job as a college lecturer, he had joined the FTII in Pune in the 1960s and obtained a diploma in direction and screenplay writing. YouTube is all set to target its international market with scripted series and other original programs in local languages to boost its unpaid subscription service.According to a report by Deadline, with this new project, YouTube will be focusing on its audience in India, Germany, Japan, Mexico, and France.Susanne Daniels, YouTube's global head of original programming, says the project will include reality series, talk shows, scripted series and music documentaries.The programs would be in local languages and will also have subtitles to attract a wider range of audience."We are targeting markets where we believe we have a tremendous upside in potential subscribers," Daniels said.YouTube has already started working on this strategy with a Hindi talk show in India called 'UnCricket' and 'Big Bang', a reality show about a pop band in Korea.
