India celebrates milestone of 100th G20 meeting under its presidency: MEA

India celebrated a key milestone in its G20 presidency on Monday with the hosting of the 100th meeting of the grouping, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. It said the 100 G-20 meetings have been held in 41 cities, covering 28 states and union territories of India. "India's G20 presidency, in the build-up to the New Delhi leaders' summit on September 9 and 10, has received immense support from G20 members and guest countries for its inclusive, ambitious, action-oriented and decisive agenda," the MEA said. "The wide-ranging, large-scale and enthusiastic participation in India's G20 meetings is a testimony to the G20 members and invitees coming together under India's presidency to collectively address contemporary global challenges," it said in a statement. The MEA said more than 12,300 delegates from over 110 nationalities have attended G20-related meetings in India so far. G20 Health Working Group meet draws attention with Co-WIN, e-Sanjeevani

An exhibition showcasing India's digital health initiatives such as COVID-19 vaccination portal Co-WIN and tele-consultation platform e-Sanjeevani has been drawing a lot of attention, particularly from foreign delegates, at the second G20 Health Working Group meeting here. Need for cooperation among G20 nations on space technologies: ISRO chairman

ISRO chairman S Somanath on Monday said there was a need for cooperation among the G20 nations on space technologies. Addressing the precursor meeting of the G20 Space Economy Leaders Meeting (SELM) in Shillong, he said the bilateral relationships between the countries on space technologies also need to be strengthened. "There is a need for cooperation among the G20 nations for the development of space technology and its applications," he said. New space policy to boost pvt participation in space sector: Jitendra Singh

India has built end-to-end capability in the space sector and is poised for a greater participation in the global space economy, Union Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh said on Monday. Addressing the G20 Space Economy Leaders meeting in Shillong, Singh said the Union Cabinet has approved the Indian Space Policy 2023 to give further boost to private investments and encourage private participation in all areas of space activities. India holds 100th G20 meeting under its presidency of bloc, says MEA

India celebrated a key milestone in its G20 presidency on Monday with the hosting of the 100th meeting of the grouping, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. The Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists (MACS) in Varanasi is the 100th meeting of the grouping under India's presidency that began on December 1 last year. The second Health Working Group in Goa, the 2nd Digital Economy Working Group in Hyderabad and the Space Economy Leaders' Precursor Meeting in Shillong are also being held on Monday, according to the MEA. India's G20 presidency will continue till November 30. The Group of Twenty (G20) comprises 19 countries (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Trkiye, United Kingdom, and United States) and the European Union. G20 meeting of chief agri scientists to kick-start on Monday in Varanasi

A three-day Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists (MACS) under India's G20 presidency will kick-start on Monday in Varanasi and will discuss on sustainable agriculture and food systems for healthy people and planet. Agriculture research and development, including food security and nutrition, climate smart agriculture, digital agriculture, public private partnership etc., will be deliberated in the meeting being organised by the Union agriculture ministry. G20 HWG meet in Goa to consolidate existing initiatives in health sector

The second meeting of the G20 health working group (HWG) in Goa will leverage the advocacy power of the forum for consolidation of all the existing initiatives in health emergencies, prevention, preparedness, and response arena to plug critical gaps in global health architecture, an official said on Sunday. Addressing a press conference here, additional secretary of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Lav Agarwal said health priorities were introduced in the first HWG meeting held in Thiruvananthpuram in January. The group in principle agreed for three proposed priorities, including mapping ongoing initiatives in health emergencies, prevention, preparedness and response and promoted convergence in global health architecture, he said. Srinagar airport to spruce up amenities to handle increased footfall

Setting up more baggage checking machines and introducing electric vehicles to ferry passengers are among the key measures to be undertaken to handle increased footfall at the international airport here ahead of G20 events and the tourist season, officials said on Friday. Developed world will slow down, emerging markets will grow: Amitabh Kant

India will play a lead role during its G20 presidency in redefining and reshaping the world which is facing multiple challenges, Indian Sherpa Amitabh Kant said here on Sunday. Talking about the trend in the past 10 years, Kant told PTI that the developed world would slow down and emerging markets would grow. Community involvement in tourism sector important for its growth: Shringla

Suggesting that tea plantations in West Bengal have the potential to become tourism hotspots, India's G20 coordinator Harsh Vardhan Shringla said on Saturday that community involvement in the tourism process is significant for its growth. Speaking to PTI on the sidelines of the second G20 Tourism Working Group Meeting here, Shringla also said that on the first day of the conference a lot of discussions were held on the states that are vulnerable to climate change such as Uttarakhand.
