GCMMF, which markets dairy items under Amul brand, on Saturday announced reduction of retail prices of more than 700 product packs, including ghee, butter ice cream, bakery and frozen snacks, as it decided to pass on benefits of the GST rate cut to consumers. The new price will be effective from September 22. In a statement, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) announced revision in price list of more than 700 product packs, offering full benefit of GST reduction to its customers, effective September 22, 2025. "This revision is across the range of product categories like butter, ghee, UHT milk, ice cream, cheese, paneer, chocolates, bakery range, frozen dairy and potato snacks, condensed milk, peanut spread, malt-based drink, etc," GCMMF said. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the custodian of the super-rich shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala hills here has lodged a police complaint against Tamil Nadu-based AR Dairy Foods Pvt Ltd on the issue of supplying adulterated ghee. TTD Executive Officer J Shyamala Rao in a press conference had said the lab tests have revealed the presence of animal fat and lard in chosen samples of ghee supplied by AR Dairy. The dairy firm that supplied ghee to the temple, has denied the allegations and said that its product samples have been duly cleared by authorities certifying its quality. The firm's spokespersons told reporters that only during the months of June and July they had supplied ghee to the TTD.

Leading milk supplier Mother Dairy on Monday said it will focus on increasing its market share in the organised ghee segment, having an estimated market size of Rs 40,000 crore, by expanding retail chain distribution five times over the next few years. At present, Mother Dairy sells ghee through 10,000 retail stores in 150 towns. The company plans to expand its presence to 200 towns and 50,000 retail outlets over the next few years, the company said in a statement.
