On the humanitarian situation in Israel and Gaza, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that there was a universal obligation to observe humanitarian law
Elon Musk's social media platform X has removed hundreds of Hamas-linked accounts and taken down or labelled thousands of pieces of content since the militant group's attack on Israel, according to the CEO of the company, formerly known as Twitter. Linda Yaccarino on Thursday outlined efforts by X to get a handle on illegal content flourishing on the platform. She was responding to a warning from a top European Union official, who requested information on how X is complying during the Israel-Hamas war with tough new EU digital rules aimed at cleaning up social media platforms. "So far since the start of the conflict, X has identified and removed hundreds of Hamas-affiliated accounts from the platform," Yaccarino said in a letter posted on X. The platform is proportionately and effectively assessing and addressing identified fake and manipulated content during this constantly evolving and shifting crisis, she wrote in response to the request from European Commissioner Thierry Breton,
Around 230 Indians are expected to be brought back from Israel on Friday in a chartered flight under Operation Ajay, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. India launched the operation to facilitate the return of those Indians who wish to come back home as a series of brazen attacks on Israeli towns by Hamas militants over the weekend triggered fresh tensions in the region. MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said at a media briefing on Thursday that the chartered flight is expected to reach Tel Aviv this evening and it will bring back the first batch of around 230 Indians on Friday. We are closely monitoring the situation, he said. On the attacks by Hamas on Israeli cities, Bagchi said India considers them as terrorist strikes. To a question on India's position on the Palestine issue, he said New Delhi always advocated resumption of direct talks towards establishment of a sovereign, independent and viable state of Palestine living side-by-side and at peace with Israel.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Tel Aviv on Thursday to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders. Blinken stepped down the stairs from his aircraft just before 10:30 am local (0730 GMT) at Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport outside of Tel Aviv. He was met at the airport by Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and other officials. He gave no public comments before getting into a vehicle to leave. Blinken is scheduled to meet with Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Netanyahu. Blinken will also meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Jordan's King Abdullah II in Amman on Friday.
Germany is offering military help to Israel and promising to crack down on support for the militant Hamas group at home following the group's attack on Israel. Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Thursday underlined Germany's historical responsibility for Israel's security. The Defence Ministry said it agreed to an Israeli request to use up to two of five Heron TP combat drones that are currently leased by the German military and were already in Israel for the training of German servicepeople. And Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said in Brussels that Israel has requested ammunition for warships, a request that will now be discussed. Scholz told the German parliament that he has asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to inform Germany of any needs, for example the treatment of wounded. At this moment, there is only one place for Germany the place at Israel's side, he told lawmakers. Our own history, our responsibility arising from the Holocaust, makes it a perpetual task for us to .
According to reports, Israel is home to over 500 global companies including Microsoft, Intel, and Google
Taiwan is closely watching the war in the Middle East sparked by the unprecedented attack on Israel by Hamas militants from Gaza for lessons amid what the self-governing island says is a campaign of intimidation and threats by China. Hamas staged a stunning and massive incursion into Israel last weekend, killing hundreds in Israel and dragging dozens into Gaza as hostages. In retaliation, Israel's increasingly destructive airstrikes in Gaza have flattened entire city blocks. The latest conflict, which has claimed at least 2,400 lives on both sides, is expected to escalate. Taiwanese Defence Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng said on Thursday that the Hamas-Israel war "blew up so suddenly, prompting Taiwan to up its ability to forecast possible threats. We've established a working group to study and ... reinforce the importance of collecting intelligence, he said ahead of a meeting of the legislature. China, which claims Taiwan as part of its territory, has conducted increasingly large milita
While Tehran is a known backer of Hamas, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has denied his country was involved in the strike
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu joined with a top political rival Wednesday to create a wartime Cabinet to oversee the fight to avenge the gruesome weekend attack by Hamas militants. In the sealed-off Gaza Strip, Palestinian suffering mounted as Israeli bombardment demolished neighbourhoods and the only power plant ran out of fuel. Netanyahu vowed to crush and destroy Hamas. Every Hamas member is a dead man, he said in a televised address. The new Cabinet establishes a degree of unity after years of bitterly divisive politics and at a time when the Israeli military appears increasingly likely to launch a ground offensive into Gaza. The war has already claimed at least 2,300 lives on both sides. The Israeli government is under intense public pressure to topple Hamas after its militants stormed through a border fence Saturday and massacred hundreds of Israelis in their homes, on the streets and at an outdoor music festival. Netanyahu alleged that the attackers engaged in

Further, weighing in on the decades-old conflict in West Asia, Harris said she and President Biden take their commitment to Israel very seriously
Israel has declared war against Hamas and set up an emergency war-time cabinet, while Hamas said it is ready for a long-drawn conflict
The Hamas-run Gaza Strip is a tiny enclave, measuring 40 kilometres long and no more than 12 kilometres wide, surveilled continually by Israel, surrounded by its guns. But rescuing or even locating more than 150 hostages hustled there by Palestinian militants who overran Israel's southern border on Saturday will be a daunting task. Gaza's densely populated terrain, its network of underground tunnels and the sheer numbers of men, women and children taken captive present Israel with the most complex hostage crisis that the country has ever faced. Mounting rescue operations in the midst of the massive Israeli bombardment of Gaza that followed the deadly Hamas rampage in southern Israel would only make an already difficult mission even more formidable. The situation is unprecedented, said Gershon Baskin, who helped to negotiate the 2011 release of Staff Sgt. Gilad Schalit after more than five years of Hamas captivity. I think Hamas was surprised at the ease it was able to take hostag
The short answer to that question is: They can't. Before I explain why, consider the lay of the land and the situation in which Gazans find themselves right now
Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday defended his record governing the nation for four years without any new wars, and criticized President Joe Biden's foreign policy as the world watches a war that has already claimed 2,300 lives unfold in Gaza, ignited by Hamas' attack on Israel. Trump and other Republicans have tried to lay blame on the Biden administration, particularly citing the release of nearly $6 billion in frozen assets to Iran, a supporter of Hamas. Administration officials insist that money has not been spent. With crooked Joe Biden, you have chaos, bloodshed, war, terror and death. Look what's happening today, Trump told a crowd of supporters in a speech that lasted more than an hour and a half at a convention center in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Biden campaign said Trump has been pushing dangerous misinformation about the crisis in Israel at a time when the country should stand together. While Trump continues to lie about his record, President Biden is ...
It was Israel's third strike in the area in the past 24 hours, according to the military
"Every Hamas terrorist is a dead man," Netanyahu said at a late-night briefing, flanked by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Benny Gantz, the head of Israel's opposition
President Joe Biden on Wednesday condemned the weekend attack by Hamas militants on Israel as the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust as the number of U.S. citizens killed in the fighting ticked up to at least 22. This attack was a campaign of pure cruelty not just hate, but pure cruelty against the Jewish people, Biden told Jewish leaders gathered at the White House. Beyond the 22 known to have been killed, the State Department said at least 17 more Americans remain unaccounted for in a war that has already claimed more than 2,200 lives on both sides. A handful of U.S. citizens are among the estimated 150 hostages captured by Hamas militants during their shocking weekend assault on Israel, White House national security spokesman John Kirby said Wednesday. Signs of U.S. support for Israel were seen across the administration, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken travelling there for meetings, Biden denouncing antisemitism in America and the U.S. military moving a second ..
Notably, it is the fourth time the two have spoken since Saturday's attack, The Times of Israel reported
UK foreign secretary James Cleverly, who is currently in Israel, ran for cover as sirens go off in the Jewish nation, according to the foreign ministry here on Wednesday. Cleverly is in Israel to meet survivors of the Hamas attacks and senior Israeli leaders. Posting a video on X, the Israeli foreign ministry said, "Watch: while UK FM @JamesCleverly visits Ofakim in southern Israel, a siren goes off warning of incoming Hamas rocket fire." "This is the reality Israelis live with every day," it said. Talking about the experience, Cleverly on X wrote that the threat of Hamas rockets lingers over every Israeli man, woman and child. "Today I've seen a glimpse of what millions experience every day...This is why we are standing shoulder to shoulder with Israel," he said. Israel, which mobilised 360,000 reservists, has vowed an unprecedented offensive against Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, after its fighters broke through the border fence and stormed into the country's south through
