How many days did PM waste on making fitness video, asks Cong leader

Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam today took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for posting a video on fitness challenge and wondered how many days did he "waste" on making the video. "In last 4 years i.e 1475 days, PM Modi spent 800 days on public rallies, more than 150 days on foreign trips. But he attended Parliament only for 19 days. God knows how many days he wasted on his Yoga videos?" Nirupam, who is the president of Mumbai Pradesh Congress Committee, said. Truckload of liquor seized in dry Bihar, two arrested

In yet another instance of crackdown on sale of alcohol in dry Bihar, Police here today seized 500 cartons of liquor worth Rs 50 lakh and arrested two persons in this connection. The liquor was being unloaded from a truck at Jhakhra village under Pipra Kothi police station of East Champaran district when a police party reached the spot following a tip-off, SHO Abhishek Kumar Ranjan said. He said the liquor had been brought from Haryana and two locals - Umesh Yadav and Dayakant Thakur - were arrested from the spot for their suspected involvement in liquor trade. The truck and a motorcycle parked nearby have also been seized, he added. Sale and consumption of alcohol was completely banned in Bihar in April, 2016.

Cabinet clears proposal for building hotel at Pragati Maidan by pvt firm

The Union Cabinet today approved a proposal for leasing out 3.7 acres of land at Pragati Maidan to a private player for construction of a hotel. The funds raised through the process would be utilised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) to finance the Integrated Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) project at Pragati Maidan. ITPO is a body under the commerce ministry which runs the exhibition centre at Pragati Maidan. The land would be monetised on long-term leasehold basis for 99 years for construction and running of a hotel by a third party. "Union Cabinet approves monetisation of 3.70 acres of land at Pragati Maidan by ITPO on long term leasehold basis for 99 years for construction and running of a hotel by a third party including private sector through a transparent competitive bidding process," an official statement said. Scientists have found a way to use tiny magnetic particles to remove off-tasting substances in wine without altering its desired aroma. From vine to wine, grapes undergo a remarkable transformation. However, sometimes this makeover results in vino that does not taste quite right, according to researchers at the University of Adelaide in Australia. In a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, scientists report that they have found a way to use tiny magnetic particles to remove off-tasting substances in cabernet sauvignon without altering its desired bouquet. Eventually, they say this technique could help remove unwanted flavours from other wines. All wines naturally contain substances that contribute to their distinctive flavours and aromas. One group of these substances called alkylmethoxypyrazines (MPs) produces vegetable-like aromas in certain varietal wines such as cabernet sauvignon. Indian-origin chef sacked over anti-Islam tweet in Dubai

Atul Kochhar, a popular Indian-origin chef in the United Arab Emirates, was today sacked by a Dubai hotel after he courted controversy by posting an anti-Islam tweet that caused outrage on social media. Kochhar, 48, the second Indian to receive a Michelin star, is well known for his Rang Mahal restaurant at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, Dubai. He caused a furore after taking a dig at Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra over an episode in American television series 'Quantico' that purportedly portrayed Hindu nationalists as terrorists.
