Prime Minister Narendra Modi had followed the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi by honouring those who worked towards keeping the country clean, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said on Saturday. TN govt announces Anna medals to 128 police personnel
The Tamil Nadu government Friday announced Anna Medals to 128 personnel attached to the police department and other uniformed services in the state to mark the birth anniversary of late Chief Minister C N Annadurai. While 100 recipients of the medal are from the police department (from various ranks), the others include 10 fire and rescue service personnel, 10 prison service personnel, five home guards and a deputy director from forensic sciences department, an official release said here. The Forensic science department scientists has been included in the list this year, it said. The medals are awarded on the occasion of Annadurai's birth anniversary every year. The awardees will receive a bronze medal and a grant according to their ranks as specified in the Medal Rules, the release said.
Uttarakhand ranked best among states in PMGSY: Official
Uttarakhand has been ranked the best among states in the country for the construction of maximum number of roads under the PMGSY during 2017-2018, an official said Friday. The state constructed a maximum of 1,839 kilometre roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana against a target of 1,500 km set for the year 2017-18, an official release quoting CEO of Uttarakhand RuralRoad Development Agency (URRDA) Raghav Langer said. Uttarakhand has also been ranked second for connecting 207 habitations with roads against a target of 172 under the scheme, it said. Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar handed citations and awards to the chief engineer of the URRDA in recognition of the state's achievement at a function in New Delhi on September 11, the release said.
