PIA flight carrying Begum Kulsoom's body arrives in Lahore
A Pakistan International Airlines' flight carrying the body of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, the wife of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, from London arrived in Lahore early Friday. The flight landed at the Allama Iqbal International Airport here around 6:45 a.m (local time). The body was later shifted to Jati Umra Lahore residence of the Sharif family for burial, Geo TV reported. Kulsoom died Tuesday in a London hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was 68. She would be buried Friday. Shehbaz Sharif, the deceased's brother-in-law and president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), along with Begum Kulsoom's daughter Asma, grandson Zayd Hussain Sharif (Hussain Nawaz's son), and 11 other family members accompanied the body. Kulsoom Nawaz's funeral prayers held in London
The funeral prayers for Kulsoom Nawaz, the wife of jailed former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif was held at the Islamic Cultural Centre here on Thursday.The former first lady of Pakistan passed away in London on Tuesday after battling cancer for a long time, at the age of 68.Hundreds of people attended the ceremony, including Kulsoom's sons - Hassan and Hussain, daughter Asma, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif among others, Geo News reported.Kulsoom's mortal remains is scheduled to be flown back to Lahore at 10 pm (local time) today from Heathrow Airport in London. Maha: Man bringing Ganesh idol run over by water tanker
A 35-year-old man participating in a procession bringing a Ganesh idol in neighbouring Palghar district was Thursday run over by a water tanker, police said. Kamlesh Bhind was part of a group of people bringing a Ganesh idol for installation at their locality in Waliv in Nalla Sopara (East), said a police official. A water tanker dashed Bhind from behind and dragged him for a considerable distance, killing him immediately, the official said. Those participating in the procession turned violent following the mishap and vandalised vehicles and blocked the road in Waliv area, police said. A video of the ruckus showed policemen resorting to a lathi charge to disperse the irate mob. Additional Superintendent of Police (Vasai) Vijaykant Sagar said that the water tanker driver had been arrested under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.

A Tanzanian national has been apprehended at the airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle out 6 kgs of drugs, an official said Thursday. I A Shabani, who was supposed to travel to Muscat, was apprehended by CISF personnel at about 2 am, he said. US House passes resolution seeking end to slaughter of dogs and cats
A resolution has been passed in the US House of Representatives asking countries like China, South Korea, Vietnam and India to end the slaughter of dogs and cats for human consumption, saying there is no place for such practises in a compassionate society. In a non-controversial voice vote, the US house also passed a bill to ban American people from slaughtering dogs and cats for human consumption. The Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act, 2018, imposes a fine of USD 5,000 (over Rs 3,50,000) for each violation. In another resolution, the house has urged all countries including China, South Korea and India to end the dog and cat meat trade. "Dogs and cats are meant for companionship and recreation.
