BJP's national office-bearers hold two-day meet with eye on Lok Sabha polls

A two-day meeting of BJP's national office-bearers began here on Friday as the ruling party took stock of its preparedness for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and chalked out its upcoming programmes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address the meeting, which is also being attended by the party's state presidents. BJP president J P Nadda chaired the meeting in which the party's various 'morcha' (wings) and state units shared details of their ongoing organisational exercises and would be given directions by senior leaders with an eye on the polls, sources said. The ongoing 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan', a flagship central government programme aimed at ensuring saturation coverage of its numerous welfare schemes, the results of the recent five assembly polls, and the party's nationwide plans on the birth anniversary of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee are among the issues likely to be discussed in the meeting.

Newcomers need to work with seniors to achieve BJP's goals: Sanjay Kumar

Hindutva firebrand leader and former BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday urged the "newcomers" in the party to work together with veterans and seniors to achieve the saffron party's common goals. Kumar, who was recently replaced by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy as Telangana BJP president, without naming anyone, called for the newcomers to sort out differences, if any, through dialogue. The BJP national general secretary, who is a sitting MP, is contesting from the Karimnagar assembly segment for the third time. He downplayed his removal as a state unit president, saying that the party is not driven by an individual but by ideology. Kumar also exuded confidence that the BJP will get a majority of seats in the 119-member Telangana assembly in the November 30 polls and the party will form the government this time. "Newcomers may face some difficulty getting along well with senior leaders in the party. Still, we have to work together. If we have joined the party to achieve a

Congress in Rajasthan making false promises to people for votes: JP Nadda

BJP president JP Nadda on Wednesday accused the Rajasthan Congress government of making false promises to the people for votes, even alleging that it failed to solve the water woes of the people of Dausa. Addressing election rallies in Dausa and Sikar in the poll-bound state, Nadda said, "Congress government did rampant corruption and made Rajasthan number one in atrocities on women." He said that the government broke promises it made to the youths and farmers. He also said that the people of Rajasthan have now decided to replace it with a "double-engine" government of BJP. "Congress is trying to collect votes by misleading people with false guarantees. The Congress government did not do anything for the water problem in Dausa," Nadda said. He also attacked the Congress government over the issues of corruption, oppression of women, atrocities on Dalits and backward classes, paper leaks, and mining mafia.
