Sales across 14,000 Jan Aushadhi outlets touch Rs 1,000 cr mark in October

Sales of Jan Aushadhi outlets reached Rs 1,000 crore mark in October this year, a feat that was achieved in December 2023. Notably, Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) had sold medicines worth Rs 200 crore in single month of September 2024. "This achievement highlights the growing trust and reliance of the people on affordable and quality medicines. This was possible only with the unwavering support of the citizens, who have embraced the initiative by purchasing medicines from over 14,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country," Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers said in a statement. The substantial growth is a testament to PMBI's commitment to making healthcare accessible and affordable for all by reducing out of pocket expenditure, it added. PACS operating Jan Aushadi Kendras; poor getting affordable medicines: Shah

Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Monday said about 241 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) have opened Jan Aushadi Kendras across the country that will ensure rural poor and farmers too avail the benefit of generic medicines at affordable rates. So far, the government's Jan Aushadi Kendras were largely opened in cities benefiting the urban poor. Now this benefit is being extended to the rural poor, he said addressing an event here. Shah, who also gave away the Jan Aushadi Kendra 'store code' certificates to five eligible PACS, said PACS could expand their business activities to open Jan Aushadi Kendras due to changes brought in their byelaws. "In the last six months, 4,470 applications from PACS were received. Out of these, in-principle approval has been given to 2,373 PACS. PMBJP achieves generic medicines sales of Rs 1,000 crore this year

The government on Wednesday said the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) achieved a landmark of selling generic medicines worth Rs 1,000 crore this year. A total savings of about Rs 5,000 crore was made by people who purchased medicines from the Jan Aushadhi Kendras, which is present in more than 785 districts across the country, an official release said. Around Rs 25,000 crore have been saved through this scheme in the last nine years and there has been more than 100 times growth in the number of such kendras, which were only 80 in 2014 and have now grown to almost 10,000 covering almost all districts in the country, it added. The government has set a target to open 25,000 Janaushadhi Kendras across the country by March 2026, and online applications have been called for opening of new Janaushadhi Kendras across all districts, the statement said. The over 10,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country have led to savings of around Rs 7,416 crore for the citizens this financial year, Rajya Sabha was informed on Friday. In a written reply in the Upper House, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Bhagwanth Khuba said an unprecedented 150 times growth in annual sales has been witnessed by the scheme in the last 9 years. "During the financial year 2022-23, Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) has sold Jan Aushadhi medicines worth Rs 1,236 crore, with approx 40 per cent growth from the previous year and this has led to savings of approximately Rs 7,416 crore to the citizens," he noted. The projected sales target for 2023-24 is Rs 1,400 crore and the scheme is growing at a very fast pace garnering public trust and confidence, Khuba said. PM Modi launches initiative to increase number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched an initiative to increase number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras, which sell medicines at subsidised rates, from 10,000 to 25,000. Modi interacted with the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra' beneficiaries via video conferencing. The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is being undertaken across the country with an aim to attain saturation of flagship schemes of the government by ensuring that the benefits of these schemes reach all targeted beneficiaries in a time bound manner, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). During the event, Prime Minister Modi launched a programme to increase the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras in the country from 10,000 to 25,000. Jan Aushadhi Kendra interests G20 delegates at Health Working Group meet

A visit to a Jan Aushadhi Kendra has piqued the interest of the delegates at the G20 Health Working Group meeting here with Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Tuesday saying that some of them have expressed their desire to emulate it in their country for which India will provide all possible help. Mansukh Mandaviya, Ashwini Vaishnaw flag off Jan Aushadhi train

Union ministers Mansukh Mandaviya and Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday flagged off a Jan Aushadhi train as part of the week long celebrations to commemorate the scheme. The train, Chhattisgarh Samparkranti Express, was wrapped with branding of Jan Aushadhi scheme to spread the awareness about Jan Aushadhi Generic medicines which are available through more than 9,000 Kendra at affordable prices, chemicals and fertilizers ministry said in a statement.
