Heads of various mutts in Dakshina Kannada district have strongly opposed the decision of the Karnataka government to repeal anti-conversion law and the cow slaughter prevention Act. The meeting of the seers condemned the recent statements by some ministers on the move to withdraw Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Act and amend Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, Gurudevananda Swami of Odiyuru Mutt told reporters here on Friday. The seers called upon Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar not to go ahead with any move to change the Acts as it will lead to social unrest in Dakshina Kannada and other districts of Karnataka. Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil on Friday said Taiwanese companies have expressed interest to collaborate with the State in converting diesel-run Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses into electric ones. He said this after a high-level delegation from Taiwan met him here to discuss industrial collaborations. Converting diesel-powered BMTC buses into electric would enable us to take a step forward towards sustainability and the Industries department would facilitate further talks with the transport counterpart in this regard, Patil said. ReNew setting up 2 hybrid projects of 70.2 MW in Karnataka for energy park

ReNew on Thursday said it is setting up two hybrid projects of 70.2 MW in Karnataka. "ReNew is setting up a 27.2 MW...project for Toyota to support its renewable energy requirements for its car manufacturing plant in Bidadi, and a 43 MW power project for Sandur to kickstart its decarbonization journey," the company said in a statement. The two solar and wind energy projects will help reduce 150 kilotonne of CO2 emissions per year. The projects are part of ReNew's 200 MW energy park to supply clean power to companies in Karnataka's Vijaynagara region. The company did not provide any financial details of the projects. According to industry estimates, to set up every 1 MW of renewable energy project, an investment of Rs 5-6 crore is required.

K'taka coastal districts likely to receive heavy rainfall, NDRF deployed

The coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are likely to receive widespread rainfall with certain areas getting very heavy rains in the next 10 days, the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) said. The coastal districts are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall (64.5 mm to 115 mm), with isolated places receiving very heavy rains (up to 244.4 mm) during the period, a KSNDMC release said. Thunderstorms with lightning are also likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of coastal Karnataka. Heavy rains in coastal areas may coincide with high tide, resulting in waterlogging and flooding of low-lying areas. District administrations have been asked to deploy de-watering pumps and other equipment in such areas in advance to handle the situation if needed. Lokayukta police raids the office, premises of 15 govt offices in DA cases

The Karnataka Lokayukta police on Wednesday conducted massive search operations across the state in connection with 15 Disproportionate Assets (DA) cases registered against as many government officers in various Lokayukta police stations across Karnataka. According to a statement issued by the office of the Lokayukta, the cases were registered in Bengaluru city, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagaluru, Madikeri, Tumakuru, Vijayapura, Bagalkote, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Belagavi, Kolar and Yadgir. Simultaneously, a search of the residences and offices of the accused government officers and their relatives were conducted in 62 locations across the state, the statement said. Cabinet entrusts Siddaramaiah with appointing members for 3 sub-committees

The Karnataka Cabinet on Wednesday entrusted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah with constituting three Cabinet sub-committees to deal with three areas, namely irrigation projects, withdrawal of criminal cases, and for giving thrust to investment in the state. The High Court of Karnataka has refused to quash the FIR against Congress party leaders Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh and Supriya Shrinate for the alleged copyright violation of music from the hit film KGF Chapter-2. K'taka govt to give money instead of 5 kg additional rice to BPL families

As the Karnataka government is facing difficulty in procuring large quantities of rice required to fulfil its poll guarantee, it has decided to pay beneficiaries cash at the rate of Rs 34 per kilo, for the additional 5kg of the foodgrain promised under the 'Anna Bhagya' scheme. Geospatial organisations Allterra and NeoGeo said on Wednesday that they have collaboratively won the "largest-ever" drone-based land parcel mapping contract through an open tender process from the Karnataka government. The project covers an area of 68,000 SQ. KM. and 10 districts in Karnataka Gadag, Koppal, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Raichur, Bidar, and Kalaburagi, the companies said in a statement. Both companies have chosen Aereo (formerly Aarav Unmanned Systems) as their technology partner for this project, which will be done using Aereo's state-of-the-art drone solutions.
