Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday asked the states to actively organise the Khelo India Games for identifying a larger pool of talent from the grassroots level.
In the first leg, the ministry has identified state-owned sports facilities in Karnataka, Odisha, Kerala, Telengana, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland
"Today, we are training almost 15000 players in different academies which are accredited under 'Khelo India', the minister said
Various organisations have threatened to intensify their stir if the prime minister came for the inaugural ceremony.
The finance minister also said that a National Sports Education Board will be set up under the Khelo India scheme
