After Rahul Gandhi threw the "fuhrer" barb at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP likened the Congress president to Mussolini, saying he has a myopic understanding of issues like the Italian dictator. The BJP retort came after Gandhi attacked Modi over employment generation, saying he had promised two crore jobs, but five years later a "leaked job creation report card" had revealed a "national disaster" The BJP tweeted that Gandhi had inherited Mussolini's short-sightedness. NEW DELHI (Reuters) - An official survey that has been withheld by the government shows India's unemployment rate rose to a 45-year high during 2017-2018, the Business Standard newspaper reported on Thursday, delivering a blow to Prime Minister Narendra Modi just months before what is expected to be a closely fought general election.
U'khand govt employees go on mass leave demanding promotions and allowances
Many employees of Uttarakhand government on Thursday went on a mass protest leave demanding timely promotions and allowances among other issues.Speaking to ANI, Secretary of Uttrakhand Secretariat Employees Union threatened to declare a state-wide shutdown if their demands were not met."A mass rally will be held across the state on February 4 and if the government fails to accept our demands then the employees may declare a state-wide shutdown," he said.On Wednesday, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi had stated that the state government will not allow the employees to go on mass leave.He assured to extend security cover to those employees who were willing to work during the mass leave.
PM to inaugurate north Kashmir's first BPO on Sunday
Prime MinisterNarendra Modi will inaugurate first ever business process outsourcing (BPO) unit in northern Kashmir's Bandiporadistrict on Sunday. The prime minister will visit to all three regions of Jammu and Kashmir on February 3 to lay foundation stones for host of projects. NCP targets Centre over NSSO report on job creation
Latching onto a media report that a study by the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) has found the current unemployment rate to be at 45-year high, the NCP Thursday questioned if it is the reason that the Centre has not made the report public yet. NCP MP Supriya Sule also sought to know whether the government would answer the questions being raised or "remain silent, as has been the trend". AP minister seeks clearance of pending Rs 1,673 cr under MGNREGA from Centre
Alleging that much of the pending MGNREGA funds belonged to non-BJP ruled states, Andhra Pradesh Minister N Lokesh Wednesday demanded that the Centre clear dues of Rs 1,673 crore to his state. He made the demand at a meeting with Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) wages need to be paid within 15 days. But payments have not been made in the last two-and-half months due lack of central funds, Lokesh said. Lokesh, who holds the charge of IT, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Ministry in Andhra Pradesh, informed those in the meeting that the state has been implementing MGNREGA effectively and requested the Centre to release at least the wage component of Rs 498 crore out of the total dues. Odisha: CBI registers 5 cases against HAL's senior manager, others
CBI on Wednesday registered five cases against Bhaben Maitra, Senior Manager, Engine Division, HAL and other HAL employees in Odisha, on charges of fraudulently misappropriating funds to the tune of around Rs 13 crore.An FIR has been registered against Maitra and HAL employees and other unknown officials, according to CBI.In October 2018, CBI had raided 12 places in Sunabeda including offices of HAL employees and recovered incriminating documents. Some employees were interrogated also.
