20-year-old gets 3 life terms for torturing, killing 2 kids

A judge sentenced a 20-year-old man to three life terms for torturing, starving and killing two children whose bodies were found in a California storage unit. While sentencing defendant Gonzalo Curiel, Judge Pamela Butler said he never deserves to walk free again, the Salinas California reported. "The cruelty exhibited, the intentional torture, the beatings, starvings, the efforts to exert authority and control, are really reflective of a ruthlessness that is rarely seen," Butler said. "Regardless of how you behave in state prison, regardless of what you do to better yourself, you should never get out of state prison," she added. Curiel was sentenced Wednesday for the 2015 killings of 6-year-old Shaun Tara and his 3-year-old sister Delylah Tara. Authorities say the children died from abuse at the hands of Curiel and their aunt, Tami Joy Huntsman, 41, in her Salinas home. Curiel also was convicted of torturing their 9-year-old sister. Huntsman pleaded guilty in February to two counts ..

Munoz, who reported himself in January for a case of abuse, was scheduled to be taken to court today. Authorities are investigating whether he had accomplices. Munoz, 56, is the first active priest arrested for sexual abuse since March, when a report ordered by Pope Francis revealed a culture of abuse and cover-ups for decades in Chile's church. Police say they made an 'error' in arresting Stormy Daniels

Prosecutors have dropped charges against Stormy Daniels just hours after the porn star was arrested and accused of illegally rubbing undercover police officers' faces against her bare breasts during a performance at an Ohio strip club. Her attorney said she was "set up" in a Columbus police sting operation, calling it an "absurd use of law enforcement resources." Police said they routinely conduct such undercover operations. The 39-year-old adult film star who claims to have had sex with President Donald Trump was charged with three misdemeanours, each punishable by up to six months in jail and a USD 1,000 fine. She was released on USD 6,000 bail around daybreak yesterday. By early afternoon, prosecutors said they were dropping the case because Ohio's law against physical contact between strippers and customers applies only to someone who "regularly" performs at a club. In Daniels' case, it was her first appearance at Sirens in Columbus. Columbus police chief Kim Jacobs said that ...

US judge refuses to halt extradition of Lithuanian ex-judge

A former Lithuanian lawmaker appeared close to fainting in a Chicago federal courtroom as a judge refused to halt her extradition to her homeland, where she faces charges stemming from her claims about the existence of a ring of influential pedophiles. Lawyers for 47-year-old Neringa Venckiene yesterday said they would immediately appeal the decision to the 7th US District Court of Appeals. That likely means Venckiene won't be forced on a plane back to Lithuania for at least several weeks. Venckiene was a central figure in a scandal that gripped and divided Lithuanians before she fled to Chicago in 2013 as prosecutors prepared charges. Also a former judge, Venckiene is viewed by some Lithuanians as a heroine for exposing a seedy criminal network, but others see her as a manipulator who fabricated the pedophilia claims. As it became clear the ruling wasn't going her way yesterday in US District Court, Venckiene - standing in orange jail garb - appeared near to collapsing and had to be .
