Court orders to register FIR against TN BJP chief

The Thoothukudi Magistrate Court on Thursday ordered police officials to register a case against Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, for allegedly abusing a co-passenger, Lois Sophia, who recently raised anti-party slogans on an aircraft.The court ordered the police to register a case under Sections 341, 294(b) and 506(1) under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), after Sophia's father had approached the court, alleging that Soundararajan and her party workers had reportedly used abusive language against his daughter and misbehaved with her.On September 3, Sophia allegedly raised 'Fascist BJP Government down down' slogan on a Chennai-Tuticorin flight. Enraged by the same, Soundararajan, also on the same aircraft, got into a verbal spat with the co-passenger and later allegedly with the police, who were stationed at the Tuticorin airport.Soundararajan also lodged a complaint and Sophia was later detained for interrogation. Google fired 48 people for sexual misconduct in two years

Google has fired around 48 people for sexual harassment in the last two years.According to an email sent to Fox News by Google Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sundar Pichai, people from the management who were accused of sexual misconduct were also sacked from the company.In the email, Google spokesperson stated that "the company was dead serious about making sure we provide a safe and inclusive workplace."The email which was also sent to all the employees of the Google came after a US national daily reported that the company gave Android creator Andy Rubin 90 million USD as an exit package after being accused of sexual misconduct by an employee.Pichai, however, said that as many 13 senior managers were sacked from the company and none of them received any exit package.The email which was also signed by Eileen Naughton, vice president of people operations, encouraged the employees to report any incidents of sexual misconduct or harassment they experience or notice.

Odisha: Farmer commits suicide due to crop damage, loan burden

A 26-year-old farmer from Gambhariguda village in Odisha's Kalahandi district allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison due to crop loss and loan burden.According to other farmers, Paramanand Lahajal took the extreme step, as he suffered crop damage in his four acres land, which he used on a sharing basis with two other villagers.Besides this, he had also taken a loan of Rs. 35,000 by mortgaging his wife's gold ornaments, which was to be repaid.Paramanand was rushed to Bhawanipatna district hospital on Thursday afternoon but was declared brought dead.

At least 19 bodies found in unmarked graves in Mexico: official

At least 19 bodies have been discovered in a field in Mexico's western state of Jalisco, scene of some of the worst violence in the country, local prosecutors said Thursday. The corpses have been identified as belonging to 16 men and three women, who are believed to have been killed about four months ago, the officials said. Two skulls were also recovered but it was not clear if that meant two more victims, or if the skulls belonged to people already declared dead. The number of murder victims in Mexico has exploded in recent years in spiraling violence linked to the country's powerful drug cartels. The first human remains were found on Monday in Lagos de Moreno, a part of Jalisco state near the border with Guanajuato state. The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) led by Vinod Rai has constituted a three-member committee to look into the sexual harassment charges against Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) CEO Rahul Johri.The three-member committee formed on Thursday comprises former judge of Allahabad High Court Justice Rakesh Sharma, former chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women Barkha Singh, and former Director of CBI IPS (Retd) P.C. Sharma. Justice Sharma will be acting as a chairman of the committee. 2 BMC officials arrested by ACB for bribery

The Mumbai unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested two BMC engineers for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a hotelier, an official said Thursday. The official identified the arrested civic officials as Sajid Hamid Khan (38) and Dayanand Kuchekar (28), both engineers of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's N Ward. Meerut Bar Association cancels membership of woman advocate for creating ruckus at public place

The Meerut Bar Association on Thursday cancelled membership of a woman advocate, who landed in a controversy after she drove her car rashly hitting at least four vehicles here, an official said. On Wednesday, Dipti Chaudhary created ruckus at public place and was sent to the district hospital for medical examination, police said. She was produced before a court here on Thursday which granted her bail on depositing Rs 20,000. According to police, Dipti was under the influence of alcohol when she drove her hatchback mindlessly from Kutchery to Boundary Road, hitting two other cars and as many motorcycles on Wednesday. Gang beheads accused in rowdy's murder case

A ten-member gang beheaded a murder accused and threw the severed head on a road near Pattukottai in Thanjavur district, police said Thursday. The victim M Prakash Kumar was an accused along with six others in the killing of Thamba Karthi, a history-sheeter, police said. They had allegedly committed the crime on August 13 and were released on conditional bail Wednesday, they said. The seven, including Prakash Kumar, were travelling in a vehicle after signing at a police station on Wednesday evening, when the 10-member gang on two-wheelers tried in vain to stop the vehicle, they said. The gang hurled country-made bombs at the vehicle. Barring Prakash, the others managed to escape. The gang caught hold of Prakash, beheaded him before dumping the severed head on the road and fleeing, police said. It is suspected that a relative of Thamba, and his associates were behind the killing, they added.

Swain demands action against BJD workers

Utkal Bharat party president and former MP M A Kharabela Swain Thursday alleged that he was attacked by ruling BJD cadres at Aul in Kendrapara district on Wednesday. Swain met the Director General of Police R P Sharma at the police headquarters here Thursday and demanded action against the BJD workers for allegedly attacking him. The BJD spokesperson P K Deb termed the allegations of Swain as "baseless and false". Swain, said when he was addressing a street corner meeting at Annapurna Bazaar in Aul on Wedneday when about 25 to 30 youths claiming to be BJD workers barged onto the podium and "stopped" him from addressing the gathering. Court allows ED to inspect Ludhiana City Centre scam file

A court Thursday allowed the Enforcement Directorate to inspect the case file of a Rs 1,100- crore alleged Ludhiana City Centre scam in which Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, his son and son-in-law were amongst the accused. Last year, Punjab's Vigilance Bureau filed a closure report in court, saying its reinvestigation of the alleged scam found nothing to substantiate the charges. The case, alleging that a private builder was favoured during Amarinder Singh's previous term as CM, was filed in 2007 when the SAD-BJP government was in power. Final arguments on the closure report are likely to be heard by District and Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh on November 15. Meanwhile, the ED in its application filed in the same court has said it should be permitted to inspect the judicial record as a separate probe in a money laundering is still pending. A 28-year-old employee of an multinational company has alleged she was raped by a married man here who also duped her of Rs 10 lakh, police said Thursday. In her complaint filed at a police station in Dwarka district on Monday, the woman alleged the 48-year-old man raped her on the pretext of marriage. Will implement SC order on Sabarimala: Kerala CM

KeralaChief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Thursday said the state government would implement the Supreme Court order permitting entry of all women into the Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala. He said the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) that manages the shrine would evolve a new system to prevent stay of "criminals" at Sabarimala Sannidhanam (temple complex). Elderly woman fed excrement over cattle dispute in Nepal

An elderly woman has been admitted to hospital after she was allegedly forced-fed faeces by three persons following a dispute over cattle in Nepal's eastern Udayapur district, police said Thursday.
