A 35-year-old taekwondo coach has been arrested here for allegedly molesting a minor player, police said Tuesday. The incident allegedly took place on October 18 at a hotel in Pune where the coach and the 15-year old girl had been staying to attend a tournament, Kotwali police station in-charge Atul Singh said. The accused, Manoj Shivhare, who was a national player and runs a taekwondo coaching institute here, had taken his team to Pune in Maharashtra to participate in a tournament, he said quoting the complaint filed by the girl's mother. The victim was also a part of this team which won a gold medal at the tournament, he said. During their stay at the hotel, Shivhare came to the girl's room and allegedly molested her. The girl, however, raised an alarm following which he fled, Singh said. On reaching Morena, the victim's mother registered a complaint with the Kotwali police, he said. A Delhi court on Tuesday rejected bail plea of Ashish Pandey, son of former BSP MP, arrested for brandishing gun in a hotel here. Special Judge Suni Rana dismissed the bail application of Pandey who was sent to 14-day judicial custody by the court yesterday, till November 5, after the police said that he was not required for further custodial interrogation. Pandey had allegedly brandished a pistol at guests of a five-star hotel threatening them in the foyer, a video of which went viral on the social media. He hails from Lucknow and is the son of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Rakesh Pandey. His brother, Ritesh Pandey, is an MLA in Uttar Pradesh.

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday commenced hearing on the petitions filed by Special CBI Director Rakesh Asthana and DSP Devender Kumar seeking quashing of an FIR against them in a bribery case. The separate petitions filed by them are being heard by Justice Najmi Waziri. Senior Advocate Amrendra Sharan is arguing for Asthana, who has also sought that the direction be passed that no coercive action be taken against him by the CBI. Asthana moved the petition on Tuesday, hours after Kumar approached the high court which agreed to give an urgent hearing. Both the petitions were mentioned before Chief Justice Rajendra Menon, who allocated the matter for hearing before Justice Waziri. The CBI had yesterday arrested its DSP, Kumar, in connection with bribery allegations involving the investigative agency's second-in-command, Asthana. Kumar, earlier the investigating officer in a case involving meat exporter Moin Qureshi, was arrested on the allegations of forgery in recording the statement .

A constable posted at Mardan Naka police outpost here allegedly consumed poison over denial of leave to visit his ailing mother, police said Tuesday. Arun Kumar Verma (28) consumed some poisonous substance Sunday night as he was depressed over not being allowed to go home, Sub Inspector Ajay Kumar Singh, in-charge of the police outpost, said. Verma was admitted to a government hospital. Thereafter, he left for his home town Mauranipur in Jhansi on 20 day-leave, Singh said. The sub-inspector said the constable had applied for leave, but his request was rejected due to the four-day Dussehra festival. Verma had asked for leave to visit his ailing mother and was in acute depression since he was not allowed to go, his colleagues said on condition of anonymity. A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth of her village here, police said Tuesday. The teenager had stepped out to attend nature's call in the fields when the youth forcibly took the girl to his house and allegedly raped her Monday night, SP (City) Dinesh Tripathi said.
