Four get life term for property dealer's kidnapping, murder

A court here has awarded life imprisonment to four people for the kidnapping and murder of a property dealer. Kuldip (45) of Amardeep Colony in the Azad Nagar area here was murdered on January 19, 2016. Additional District and Sessions judge R K Jain on Thursday convicted and sentenced Ravinder alias Monu of Professor Colony (Hisar), Manoj Kumar of Talu village (Bhiwani) and Kuldeep and Jagbir of Sisai Bolan (Hisar). All were convicted under sections 302 (murder), 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to the murder), 379 (theft), 420 (cheating) of the IPC. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 1.10 lakh each and in case of default they would have to further undergo an imprisonment of another two and a half years. Malaysia's opposition leader was Friday hit with 45 charges in a USD 26 million corruption case, a new blow to his beleaguered party which lost power in landmark elections this year. Two given seven years of jail for stealing mobiles on train

A local court has given seven years of imprisonment to Ravi Kashyap and Naushad for stealing mobile phones in train here Thursday. A fine of Rs 5,500 was also imposed on each of them by Additional district sessions judge Om Veer Singh. The railway police investigated the case and recovered stolen mobiles from the convicts. The case of mobile stealing was brought to notice when a passenger on Amritsar-Delhi train complained about his phone being stolen from Muzaffarnagar railway station in November last year.

Farmer beaten to death in UP

A 65-year-old farmer was allegedly beaten to death by unidentified miscreants in Shamli district's Titoli village, police said Friday. The farmer, Karan Pal had gone to irrigate his fields Thursday but he did not return home, SHO Adarsh Mandi Police station Anil Singh said. After a search, Pal's body was found with injuries and bruise marks in his field. It was sent for postmortem, the SHO said. A case of murder was registered under the Indian Penal Code, he added.

Haryana: Minor girl raped while returning from school

A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped while returning from school in Haryana's Rewari district.The incident took place on October 16, wherein a 38-year-old man allegedly abducted the minor girl, took her to the fields nearby and raped her.After reaching home, the girl, who was bleeding profusely, narrated the ordeal to her mother, a migrant labourer, following which police were informed. The police took the victim to the hospital for medical examination.Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Satpal Kumar told ANI that the accused has been arrested in connection with the case. Egypt denies forced disappearance reports of former lawmaker

The Egyptian government is denying an accusation by the wife of a former lawmaker that her husband may have bene detained by police. A statement by the State Information Service on Thursday categorically denies that Mustafa el-Nagar has been detained. Instead, it described him as a fugitive from a three-year prison sentence upheld this week by the country's top appeals court following his conviction along with some two dozen others of insulting the judiciary. "The rumors about his forced disappearance are totally unfounded," it said. Journalist booked by cops as ex-colleague alleges harassment; accused claims blackmail

A former senior news producer of a private television channel was booked by the Noida Police for allegedly sexually and mentally harassing a junior reporter, officials said Thursday. The accused, however, has alleged that the complainant woman and her fiance were trying to blackmail him and extort money. He too has made a complaint to the Ghaziabad police, according to officials. Woman's decomposed body found in jungles in outer Delhi

The decomposed body of a woman was found in jungles in outer Delhi's Mundka area, police said on Thursday. The body was found on October 14, they said. The lower portion of the body is highly decomposed and it is suspected it was dumped 15-20 days back in the jungles adjacent to the peripheral road connecting Mundka and Gurgaon, police said. A skull has also been found, but police said it will be difficult to identify the woman since the upper portion of the body is missing. Police suspect after killing the woman, her body must have been dumped here. The body was found dumped in a gunny bag and parts of the body were scattered in the area, police said, adding they suspect that animals must have eaten the body. Labourer dies after steel sheet pierces through his neck in northwest Delhi factory; owner held

A 45-year-old labourer died after a piece of steel sheet pierced through his neck at a factory in northwest Delhi's Ashok Vihar, police said Thursday. The deceased was identified as Satyendra Gaur, they said. Police were reported about the incident on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, a senior police officer said. A case was registered in connection with the incident, and the factory owner Sushil Kumar Singhal (50) has been arrested, the officer said. According to the police, the labourer was working when a piece of thin sheet of steel fell on him, piercing through his neck. Gaur was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, the officer said. The deceased was working in the factory for the last six years, he added.

Gurugram: Gunman Mahipal sent to 14-day judicial custody

Gunman Mahipal, who shot an additional session judge's wife and son in Gurugram, has been sent to 14-day judicial custody.On October 5, the Gurugram Police detained the assailant's mother and cousin for interrogation.The police arrested the gunman on Saturday and said that they are yet to ascertain the motive behind the crime.The incident took place on October 13, when the additional sessions judge Krishan Kant's wife Ritu and their 18-year-old son Dhruv had gone to shopping in Gurugram's Sector 49.The gunman opened fire and injured both of them.
