IPL 2024 LSG vs DC: Mayank Yadav unlikely to play Lucknow's next two games

Pace sensation Mayank Yadav is unlikely to play the next two games for Lucknow Super Giants as he continues his recovery from tightness in his hip, said head coach Justin Langer here on Thursday. LSG face Delhi Capitals here on Friday before travelling to Kolkata for the away game on April 14. Langer and Co. is hoping that Mayank regains full fitness before the home game against Chennai Super Kings on April 19. "That's the plan (to have Mayank fit for the match against Chennai Super Kings on April 19). We want him to play every game if possible," Langer said on the eve of the game against DC. "But he'll be working towards it; he's working very hard every day to be ready for whatever our next game is. He won't play tomorrow, it's unlikely... with the very short turnaround, it's unlikely that he plays these two games. But he's certainly working towards playing whenever he possibly can." Mayank, who became an overnight sensation by consistently bowling at 150kmph plus on his IPL debu

IPL 2024: Injured Mayank Yadav likely to miss LSG's next match on April 12

Young pace sensation Mayank Yadav in all likelihood will miss Lucknow Super Giants next IPL match against Delhi Capitals at home on April 12 because of an abdominal niggle which will require monitoring over the week, the franchise's CEO stated on Monday. Mayank suffered the niggle during LSG's 33-run win over Gujarat Titans at Lucknow on Sunday night. Mayank felt soreness in lower abdominal area and as a precaution we are managing his workload over the next week. We hope to see him soon on the field, said Vinod Bisht, the CEO of the Super Giants in a statement. However, the statement meant that Mayank might be a non-starter even in LSG's weekend game (April 14) against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. With Bisht being non-committal about his possible return to action, things aren't exactly looking great for the injury prone speedster. While one match absence is safely on cards, lower abdominal injuries for fast bowlers does take more time to heal. On Sunday night, Mayan

IPL 2024 - I like it when people expect me to win matches: Yash Thakur

Unlike many, Yash Thakur quite likes the burden of expectations. So, when his Lucknow Super Giants skipper K L Rahul saw a match-winner in him after Mayank Yadav's injury breakdown, the young pacer got the impetus he needed to fetch his maiden five-wicket haul in the IPL. The 25-year-old from Vidarbha had the spotlight firmly planted on him after pace spearhead Yadav suffered a side strain and left the field mid-match against Gujarat Titans here on Sunday night. Thakur returned figures of 5/30, including the wicket of GT captain Shubman Gill. This was his maiden five-wicket haul in the IPL and helped his team defeat Gujarat Titans by 33 runs, besides earning him the player of the match honours. "Mayank is an extraordinary player and the speed he generates is . I know my limitations and I know my strength and I only back my strengths," Thakur said of his teammate, who has bowled the fastest delivery of this IPL. Giving an update on Yadav, Thakur said his now famous teammate is doing

IPL 2024: Lucknow Super Giants' Shivam Mavi ruled out due to injury

Lucknow Super Giants' pacer Shivam Mavi has been ruled out of this season's Indian Premier League after he failed to recover from his rib injury. The 25-year-old, who last played competitive cricket in August 2023, missed the entire domestic season for Uttar Pradesh but did turn up for Lucknow Super Giants' pre-season training only to be told that he would not play any part in this edition. He had suffered a rib stress fracture in August last year. "The talented right-arm fast bowler joined us after the auction in December and has been part of the camp from pre-season. He has been a key part of the squad for the season, hence we as well as Shivam are disappointed that his season has come to an end so soon," the press release from LSG stated. Mavi, who has played six T20 Internationals for India, also didn't get to play a single game for Gujarat Titans in 2023, and in the last auction, LSG roped him for Rs 6.4 crore to fill the void created by Avesh Khan leaving for Rajasthan ...

IPL 2024 - This is just the start, goal is to play for India: Mayank Yadav

Fast bowling sensation Mayank Yadav came up with his second consecutive match-winning spell on Tuesday and he is hoping that his stellar start to the IPL leads to an India cap. With back-to-back player of the match performances in his debut season, the 21-year-old has emerged as the find of season. However, IPL is only a means to an end for Mayank. "Feel really good, two Player of the Match awards in two matches. I am happier that we won both the matches. My goal is to play for the country. I feel this is just the start. I enjoyed Cameron Green's wicket the most, said Mayank after LSG's win over RCB here. His three wickets included Green, Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar. Mayank had missed the last season due to injury and he fully knows the importance to fitness. There are a lot of factors to bowl quick - diet, sleep, training. I am focusing a lot on my diet and recovery - ice bath, he said. LSG skipper K L Rahul could not be more pleased for a cricketer who has shown great ...

IPL 2024: Mayank Yadav's fiery pace give Lucknow 28-run win over RCB

Quinton de Kock's astute fifty and pace sensation Mayank Yadav's youthful brilliance fashioned Lucknow Super Giants' 28-run romp over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their IPL match here on Tuesday. Lucknow constructed their 181 for five around Quinton De Kock's 81 (56b) and Nicholas Pooran's unbeaten 40 (21b). RCB threatened to miraculously scale 182 briefly through Mahipal Lomror, who produced a forceful 33 off 13 balls. However, Mayank's scorching three-wicket haul (3/14) was not to be denied as the hosts were bundled out for 153. But in reality, RCB's chase never really took off partly by their own follies and partly by the excellence of Lucknow bowlers. Lucknow opened the bowling with two spinners Manimaran Siddharth and Krunal Pandya and it did surprise Faf du Plessis (19 off 13) and Virat Kohli (22 off 16). But the introduction of pacer Naveen-ul-Haq saw Kohli upping the ante, smoking him for six over the bowler's head. The left-arm spinner Siddharth soon fetched the ma
