Guv withholding appointment of 244 school principals: Manish Sisodia

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday accused Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena of withholding appointments of 244 principals on "flimsy grounds". This comes a day after Saxena approved 126 posts of principals and deputy education officers in city government schools that had lapsed for remaining "vacant" for more than two years. "They have an unconstitutional control over the services department. There are 370 posts lying vacant and put of these 370, 126 were approved by LG sir. For the remaining, he has asked us to conduct a study. I want to ask LG sahab: These schools are functioning with the help of vice-principals. How can we conduct the study on feasibility of a principal?" he questioned during a press conference. He said he will also be writing to Saxena on the matter but urged him to not stop the appointments on remaining posts on "flimsy grounds'". "This is insensitive and unfortunate. LG sahab, please don't make it into a joke. Had the control of Services ...

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday wrote to Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena asking him to approve the government's proposal to send teachers of state-run schools to Finland for a training programme. The Delhi government had on January 20 sent the proposal to the Lt Governor''s Office to allow the teachers to visit Finland, days after Saxena asked the government to first conduct a cost-benefit analysis of the programme. In the letter, Sisodia said "politics" should not be played on "such sensitive issues'' and urged Saxena to clear the file. "The file has been doing the rounds in your office since October last year. The file was again sent to you on January 20 but there has been no decision yet," Sisodia wrote in the letter. Doctors' salaries were stopped to influence MCD polls: Delhi Dy CM Sisodia

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged on Saturday that doctors' salaries and government projects were unlawfully stalled in order to influence the MCD polls, but asserted that these actions will not obstruct the public welfare work of the Arvind Kejriwal-led dispensation. LG bypassing Delhi govt in issuing prosecution sanction: Manish Sisodia

AAP leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday accused Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena of issuing prosecution sanction by bypassing the city government. He said this has led to a situation where those accused of committing serious offences against the State might walk away free. Sisodia said it is the elected government that issues a prosecution sanction. "Hon. LG's over-enthusiasm to bypass elected govt on every matter has created a crisis situation wherein many people accused of committing serious crimes against the state might go scot free," he said in a tweet. The LG has issued "invalid Prosecution Sanctions bypassing the elected government," he said, without elaborating. Under Section 196(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), a valid sanction for prosecution from the state government is a prerequisite for certain offences, Sisodia said. It includes offences like hate speech, hurting religious sentiments, hate crimes, sedition, waging war against s

BJP making 'illegitimate' use of Delhi officers, says Manish Sisodia

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday accused BJP of wanting to have "unconstitutional" control over Delhi officers to have leverage over the city government. Sisodia's charge came in the wake of a notice issued to the Aam Aadmi Party asking it to pay Rs 163.62 crore it allegedly spent on political advertisements in the garb of government advertisements. The development came nearly a month after Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena directed the chief secretary to recover Rs 97 crore from the AAP for political advertisements it published under the veneer of government advertisements. The recovery notice issued by the Directorate of Information and Publicity (DIP) also includes the interest on the amount and makes it mandatory for the ruling party in Delhi to pay the whole amount within 10 days, the sources said. "If the AAP convener fails to do so, all consequential legal action including attachment of the properties of the party shall be taken in time bound manner,

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had last week approved appointment of Justice(retd) Rajeev Shrivastava as the next DERC chairman. The file was sent for nod of the LG, the government had said. "Have requested Hon LG to clear the appointment of DERC Chairperson urgently. The post becomes vacant from today. I have also urged him not to send the file directly to officers (as he has done in three cases last week) as that is against the Constitution and various SC judgements," Sisodia tweeted.
