The CBI on Saturday conducted searches at the office of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with alleged irregularities in excise policy. Taking to Twitter, Sisodia claimed the agency did not find anything against him during previous raids and this time too it will be the same as he has done nothing wrong. Delhi government sources said that the CBI team was conducting searches at Sisodia's office at Delhi Secretariat. "The CBI has again reached my office today. They are welcome. They conducted raids at my house, searched the locker, made enquiries against me at my village. Nothing was found then and nothing will be found now because I have done nothing wrong. Have worked honestly for the education of Delhi's children," Sisodia tweeted. The CBI probe into the alleged excise scam was recommended last year by Delhi LG VK Saxena. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday accused BJP of wanting to have "unconstitutional" control over Delhi officers to have leverage over the city government. Sisodia's charge came in the wake of a notice issued to the Aam Aadmi Party asking it to pay Rs 163.62 crore it allegedly spent on political advertisements in the garb of government advertisements. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday urged LG VK Saxena to "urgently" clear appointment of the chairman of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC). Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had last week approved appointment of Justice(retd) Rajeev Shrivastava as the next DERC chairman. The file was sent for nod of the LG, the government had said. In a letter to the LG, Sisodia said the post of DERC chairman became vacant on Tuesday, and requested him to "urgently" clear the appointment. "Have requested Hon LG to clear the appointment of DERC Chairperson urgently. The post becomes vacant from today. I have also urged him not to send the file directly to officers (as he has done in three cases last week) as that is against the Constitution and various SC judgements," Sisodia tweeted. The Enforcement Directorate on Friday filed a supplementary charge sheet against five individuals and seven companies before a court here in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam also involving Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. A Delhi court on Monday extended till January 7 the judicial custody of four accused, arrested in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam also involving Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Special Judge M K Nagpal extended the custody of businessmen Sharath Reddy, Binoy Babu, Vijay Nair and Abhishek Boinpally after they were produced before the court, noting that the bail petitions of all these accused is presently pending in this court for arguments on different dates. The special judge passed the order after noting the submissions of Enforcement Directorate's special public prosecutor N K Matta that the agency was in process of filing a supplementary charge sheet against all arrested accused. The ED told the court that the charge sheet is likely to be filed by January 6. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said that the city government-run hospitals are "fully equipped" to fight any surge in Covid cases as mock drills were conducted at various medical facilities in the national capital to assess their preparedness to deal with the viral disease. Hospitals across Delhi will conduct mock drills on Tuesday to assess their preparedness, including availability of beds and manpower, to deal with any increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. The Centre issued an advisory to this effect on Monday amid a spurt in COVID-19 cases in some countries. In the national capital, the drill will take place at Delhi government-run facilities like LNJP Hospital and private hospitals. Delhi government has approved a project to upgrade the Ghonda sewer pumping station and replace the existing pipelines, an official said on Saturday. The project worth Rs 16.65 crore is likely to benefit thousands of residents of northeast Delhi, including that of Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the existing sewage pipeline in the Ghonda area is approximately 20 years old. "Over these two decades, the population of the surrounding areas has also increased substantially, leading to an increasing sewage load on these pipelines," he said. "In light of this, it has been decided that along with replacing the existing pipeline here, the sewage pump station will also be upgraded so that there is no problem like sewage overflow in the future," he added.
