Lateral entry into bureaucracy is a direct assault on social justice and it deprived opportunities deserved for meritorious and minority officers from the reserved categories, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin said on Tuesday. He called upon the Central government to halt this practice, and instead prioritise filling backlog vacancies for OBCs, SC/STs, and ensure fair and equitable promotions. "We demand the complete abolition of the creamy layer, a concept we have always opposed," the chief minister said in a post on 'X'. The DMK never professed atheism nor interfered in devotees' faith and anybody was free to worship the gods of their choice, Tamil Nadu Minister P K Sekar Babu said, slamming the BJP for raising a new strategy to target the ruling party. TN govt says Union Budget has betrayed; AIADMK calls it 'a disappointment'

The Tamil Nadu government and the opposition AIADMK slammed the Union Budget on Tuesday allegedly for ignoring the state and for favouring the BJP allies ruled states. The Centre has consistently chosen to ignore the demands raised by Chief Minister M K Stalin on a numerous issues and also the requests that he had placed before the Union government, state Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu said. "It is true that Tamil Nadu has been betrayed. Tamil Nadu govt to establish international airport in Hosur: CM MK Stalin

The Tamil Nadu government will set up an international airport on 2,000 acres of land in Hosur with a capacity to handle 30 million passengers a year and to cater the increasing industrial needs in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts, Chief Minister M K Stalin informed the Assembly on Thursday. The presence of an airport will help the overall socio-economic development of the region, not just Hosur alone, the chief minister said. "I am pleased to announce in this House that an international airport will be set up on 2,000 acres of land in Hosur, capable of handling 30 million passengers per annum," Stalin said, making the announcement under rule 110 in the Assembly. TN CM MK Stalin announces development of additional 10,000 km rural roads

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Monday announced in the Assembly that in the next two years, additionally, 10,000 km rural roads will be developed under the CM's Village Roads Development Scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 4,000 crore. Making a statement in the House, Stalin said development of road infrastructure is very important in the overall goal of the Dravidian model government to develop 'all districts, all sectors and all sections of the society.' Investments of over Rs 6 lakh crore in Tamil Nadu have been promised by various companies during the Global Investors Meet 2024 organised by the DMK government in the state, Chief Minister M K Stalin said on Monday. Participating in the valedictory session of GIM 2024, the chief minister said companies have committed to investing a total of Rs 6,64,180 in Tamil Nadu and added that it would create as many as 26,90,657 lakh direct and indirect jobs in the state.
