Flight operations hit at Mumbai airport as tech glitch hits data network

Flight operations were affected at Mumbai airport on Saturday after a technical glitch hit the data network, forcing the facility's operator to switch to manual mode, according to a source. Though the glitch affected the system for a couple of minutes, it took an hour to fix it, the source said. "Around 4 pm, the passenger processing handling system was moved to manual mode as the systems reported a glitch. It took an hour to fix the issue. Due to this, there was some disruption in flight operations," the source said. "A third-party data network outage had impacted check-in systems at Mumbai airport, thereby delaying flight departures of airlines, including Air India," Air India said in a post on social media platform X. There were no comments from Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL). MIAL is a 74:26 joint venture between the Adani Group and Airports Authority of India. The systems have since been restored. Mumbai airport logs flat passenger growth at 13.6 mn in June quarter

Adani Group-AAI-owned Mumbai International Airport has reported an almost flat year-on-year passenger growth at 1.36 crore in the April-June period of the current fiscal. The country's second busiest airport had flown 1.34 crore passengers in the first quarter of the previous fiscal, according to a Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) statement. Despite disruptions like regional airspace restrictions, geopolitical conditions, temporary airspace closures in the Middle East, and a momentary dip in passenger sentiment stemming from recent aviation incidents, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) sustained operational momentum, MIAL said. During the quarter under review, the airport facilitated 82,369 air traffic movements (ATMs), growing 1.3 per cent year-on-year, with International ATMs recording a growth of 3.3 per cent, it added. BAOA seeks govt assistance as Mumbai airport plans to end pvt jet parking

Business Aircraft Operators Association has sought the civil aviation ministry's intervention to reverse Mumbai airport's decision to evict private jet operators from the airport's parking facilities by July 31, saying the proposed terms are prohibitive. Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), part of Adani group, is operating the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in the city. In a letter to Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha, BAOA's Managing Director R K Bali said CSMIA is a public asset and public assets should be available to all stakeholders in a fair and equitable manner without any discrimination. "The terms now sought to be imposed by MIAL upon the GA/BA operators are prohibitive and make the entire operation unviable and are intended to oust the GA/BA operators from the asset. Accordingly, it is crucial for MoCA to intervene and uphold legal and policy safeguards for the GA/BA sector in India," the letter, dated July 9, said. BAOA represents
