Lok Sabha polls: Nitish Kumar to attend NDA meeting in Delhi on June 6

Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar will on Wednesday take part in the NDA meeting scheduled in the national capital, highly placed sources said here. Kumar, whose party is set to grab 12 out of the state's 40 seats, will be leaving for Delhi in the morning. Kumar had visited Delhi during the weekend when he met top BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With the BJP falling short of majority, Kumar is being seen as a key player whom the opposition INDIA bloc is also sending fillers.

LS polls: NDA ally HAM(S) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi wins from Bihar's Gaya

HAM(S) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi, the former chief minister of Bihar, won the Gaya Lok Sabha seat in Bihar by 1,01,812 votes on Tuesday, according to the Election Commission. Manjhi, who will turn 80 in four months, secured 4,94,960 votes. His nearest rival Kumar Sarvjeet of the RJD got 3,93,148 votes. Manjhi had been trying his luck from Gaya since the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in which he was the JD(U) candidate and finished third. In 2019, he fought on the symbol of his own party but lost to the JD(U) by over 1.5 lakh votes. He is the MLA of Imamganj, which is in Gaya district but is part of the Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency.

LS polls 2024: NDA leads in 10 seats in Jharkhand, INDIA bloc in 4

The BJP was leading in nine Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, its ally AJSU Party in one, while the Congress and JMM were ahead in two each, according to available trends. Union minister and sitting MP Arjun Munda was trailing to Congress's Kalicharan Munda in Khunti Lok Sabha seat by around 40,000 votes, as per ECI officials. In Singhbhum, JMM's Joba Manjhi was leading by 64,654 votes over her nearest rival Geeta Kora of the BJP after the fourth round of counting, they said. Kora, wife of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, joined the BJP just ahead of Lok Sabha polls. She was the lone Congress MP in the state. Former DGP and sitting BJP MP VD Ram was leading by 85,340 votes over her nearest rival Mamata Bhuiyan of the RJD in Palamu. In Dumka, BJP's Sita Soren was leading by 12,057 votes over JMM's Nalin Soren. Sita, a three time JMM legislator, joined BJP just ahead of Lok Sabha polls. LS polls: Delhi bookies predict over 340 seats for NDA, 200 for INDIA bloc

In line with most of the exit poll predictions, bookies in Delhi feel the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will get more than 340 seats in the Lok Sabha polls while the INDIA opposition bloc may secure around 200 seats. According to the calculations of bookies and punters in Delhi, the NDA could get between 341 and 343 seats while the number could be between 198 and 200 for the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), a source working in the bookie network told PTI. While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may win 310 to 313 seats on its own, the Congress's numbers could be between 57 and 59, the bookies have predicted.
