US President Donald Trump said on Monday (April 21) the United States had very good talks with Iran
Iran on Friday sought support from Russia over a possible deal with Washington over Tehran's rapidly advancing nuclear programme, ahead of a second round of talks this weekend in Rome. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said he briefed his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on the first round of talks in Oman last week and praised Russia's role in Iran's 2015 nuclear deal with world powers that led to lifting of sanctions in return for Tehran's cap on its nuclear activities. We are hopeful, and we expect Russia to continue its supportive role in any new agreement, Araghchi said in a joint news conference with Lavrov in Moscow. The 2015 nuclear deal collapsed with Trump's unilateral withdrawal while Iran abandoned all limits on its nuclear programme, and enriches uranium to up to 60% purity near weapons-grade levels of 90%. Lavrov said Russia was ready to mediate and assist in the nuclear talks. We are ready to help, mediate and play any role that, from Iran's point of view,
Amendments to the Atomic Energy Act are in progress to enable private sector involvement in nuclear energy sector, with strict oversight on the import, use, and disposal of nuclear fuel
Wright, on his first visit to the kingdom as secretary as part of tour of energy-producing Gulf states, said further details over a memorandum detailing the energy cooperation
India needs a nuclear energy renaissance and the US is interested in helping the country develop a nuclear infrastructure as both nations have a vital shared interest in this area, Holtec CEO Dr Kris Singh has said, voicing optimism that things will move forward under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India and the US have shared strategic interest in clean energy... Nuclear power should be a unifier and India should naturally take the lead there. For that, India needs to have an exportable technology, Singh told PTI in an exclusive interview at the sprawling Krishna P Singh Technology Campus in Camden, New Jersey. Holtec International is a diversified energy technology company recognised as the leading technology innovator in the field of carbon-free power generation, specifically commercial nuclear and solar energy. In September last year, Singh had met PM Modi here during the Prime Minister's visit for the UN General Assembly high-level session and they had discussed Holtec's plan to
Maharashtra on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Russia's state-owned company ROSATOM for development of a Small Modular Reactor based on thorium fuel. The MoU was signed in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis between Mahagenco and ROSATOM's 'Small Modular Reactor with Thorium Fuel' initiative. The main objective of this MoU is to jointly develop a thorium reactor in Maharashtra, commercialise thorium reactors as per safety standards of Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), and establish an assembly line for thorium reactors under the 'Make in Maharashtra' initiative. "CM Devendra Fadnavis presided over the MoU signing between Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. Ltd (MAHAGENCO) and Russia's State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM for the development of a Small Modular Reactor based on Thorium Fuel," the CMO said in a post on X. The Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA) will provide strategic support for the joint development
CERN, in its analysis, has found this next-generation collider to be an essential tool to tackle some of the most perplexing questions about the universe
Top minds at the world's largest atom smasher have released a blueprint for a much bigger successor that could vastly improve research into the remaining enigmas of physics. The plans for the Future Circular Collider a nearly 91-kilometre loop along the French-Swiss border and below Lake Geneva published late Monday put the finishing details on a project roughly a decade in the making at CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research. The Future Circular Collider (FCC) would carry out high-precision experiments in the mid-2040s to study known physics in greater detail, then enter a second phase planned for 2070 that would conduct high-energy collisions of protons and heavy ions that would open the door to the unknown, said Giorgio Chiarelli, a research director at Italy's National Institute of Nuclear Physics. History of physics tells that when there is more data, the human ingenuity is able to extract more information than originally expected, Chiarelli, who was not ...

Moscow's renewed attacks on Ukraine's electricity infrastructure this winter have heightened scrutiny over the Ukrainian Energy Ministry's failure to protect the country's most critical energy facilities near nuclear power sites. Despite more than a year of warnings that the sites were vulnerable to potential Russian attacks, the Energy Ministry failed to act swiftly, current and former Ukrainian officials in Kyiv told The Associated Press. Two years of punishing Russian strikes on its power grid have left Ukraine reliant on nuclear power for more than half of its electricity generation. Especially vulnerable are the unprotected nuclear switchyards located outside the perimeters of its three functioning nuclear plants, which are crucial to transmitting power from the reactors to the rest of the country. The switchyards that handle electrical routing from nuclear power plants are a vital component of Ukraine's nuclear energy infrastructure powering homes, schools, hospitals, and oth
