Gujarat CM meets officials of armed forces, extends full cooperation

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday met officials from the armed forces and assured them that they won't face any difficulty in carrying out their operations in the state. The meeting was aimed at establishing better coordination between government departments, armed and paramilitary forces operating in the state, said Harsh Sanghavi, minister of state for home, after the interaction in Gandhinagar on Friday morning. Besides senior employees of various departments, including police and collectors of border districts, officials from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Border Security Force and Coast Guard also attended the meeting, he said. The CM thanked the armed forces on behalf of the people. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the police, Coast Guard and Navy are on alert mode in the state, and all SoPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are being followed. Basmati prices up on higher demand, not due to India-Pak tensions: AIREA

All India Rice Exporters Association President (AIREA) Satish Goel on Friday ruled out any impact on Basmati trade, stressing that the recent increase in prices of the commodity is owing to higher demand and not due to the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions. The export price of Basmati rice varieties --1509 and 1718 -- have inched up slightly since March due to rise in demand and not due to supply disruptions caused due to ongoing military escalations between the two nations, he said. "Not due to ongoing India-Pakistan tensions, the Basmati prices have gone up recently. Prices rose slightly because of higher demand from Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq," Goel told PTI. Mumbai Air Traffic Control (ATC) has experienced a surge in traffic, after international flights were rerouted due to the closure of Pakistani airspace since last month, sources said. Apart from handling Europe, North and South America-bound flights originating from Mumbai, the ATC is now also handling aircraft flying towards these regions from Northern India, the sources added.
