Oscars 2023: India bagged two Oscar awards at the 95th Academy Awards on Monday; Naatu Naatu won Best Original Song, and The Elephant Whisperers won the Best Documentary Short award
"Everything Everywhere All At Once" came in the Oscar favourite, and it's winning like one, too. Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis all won acting honours while the filmmaking duo known as the Daniels, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert won for both directing and original screenplay. Yeoh became the first Asian woman to best actress, taking the award for her lauded performance in "Everything Everywhere All at Once". The 60-year-old Malaysian-born Yeoh won her first Oscar for a performance that relied as much on her comic and dramatic chops as it did her kung fu skills. She's the first best actress win for a non-white actress in 20 years. "Ladies, don't let anyone ever tell you you're past your prime,: said Yeoh, who received a raucous standing ovation. In winning best director, the Daniels both 35 years old won for just their second and decidedly un-Oscar bait feature. They're just the third directing pair to win the award, following Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins ("W

It was the second Oscar of the night for the duo, who earlier won best original screenplay, one of five statuettes their film won Sunday night, including best supporting actor for Ke Huy Quan and best supporting actress for Jamie Lee Curtis. It may still win best actress and best picture. When they won the earlier Oscar, Scheinert railed off the names of his favourite school teachers, saying, you guys all inspired me and taught me to be less of a butthead. And

Many things about the Academy Awards have changed over the years, but for the past six decades there has been at least one constant: The red carpet. The hues have varied over the years, but it has always been some shade of red. Until this year. On Wednesday outside the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, workers unspooled a champagne-coloured carpet as Jimmy Kimmel, who is hosting the 95th Oscars on Sunday, presided over the occasion. The decision to change the colour came from creative consultants Lisa Love, a longtime Vogue contributor, and Ral vila, the creative director for the glamourous Met Gala in New York. This year the carpet will be covered, in part to protect the stars and cameras from the weather, but also to help turn the arrivals into an evening event.
