The ICC has fined Pakistan players 25 percent of their match fee and also docked the team five World Test Championship points for maintaining a slow over-rate against South Africa in the second Test at Newlands. South Africa, which will take on Australia in the WTC final at Lord's in June, swept Pakistan 2-0 in the series with a 10-wicket win inside four days in the second test. The ICC said in a statement that match referee Richie Richardson of the West Indies imposed the sanction after Pakistan was ruled to be five overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration. According to the ICC code of conduct, players are fined five percent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time. The teams are also penalized one WTC point for each over short. The ICC also said that Pakistan captain Shan Masood accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing. At lunch, Rickelton was unbeaten on 213 and Verreynne smacked eight fours and four sixes in his 74 not out off 88 balls as they guided South Africa to a strong first innings total by sharing 106-run sixth-wicket unbroken stand. Pakistan twice went for unsuccessful lbw television reviews against Verreynne, who was not only aggressive against the pace but also didn't allow Salman Ali Agha (2-77) to settle down by reverse sweeping the off-spinner. Rickelton, resuming on 176, quietly reached his double century off 265 balls when h
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in a scramble to complete the renovation work of the National Stadium ahead of next month's Champions Trophy, and has moved all matches scheduled at the venue to other places. The stadium will play host to the opening match of the ICC marquee event between Pakistan and New Zealand on February 19. Due to the ongoing construction and renovation work it was decided against holding any matches at the NSK as it would only further delay the work and also disturb the players, one official said. The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final, the premier first-class event in Pakistan, began on Thursday at the smaller UBL Complex here after getting shifted from the National Stadium. The PCB has also announced that the two-Test series against the West Indies later this month would be held in Multan after scheduling the first Test in Karachi after continuing delay in the renovation work remained a cause of concern. Pakistan's Shadab Khan has revealed he is working closely with former spinner Saqlain Mushtaq in order to rediscover his rhythm and win the trust of the national selectors ahead of the Champions Trophy. The hybrid model meant that India will play all their matches in Dubai with the marquee clash against Pakistan scheduled on February 23. Pakistan won a second straight major one-day international series away from home when it beat South Africa by 81 runs at Newlands. Half-centuries by Babar Azam, captain Mohammad Rizwan and allrounder Kamran Ghulam staked Pakistan to 329 all out. Heinrich Klaasen hit 97 but South Africa's chase was strangled by Pakistan, and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi ended the last meaningful resistance with three wickets in three overs. Klaasen was the last man out on 248 in the 44th over. Pakistan's fifth successive bilateral ODI series win puts it in good stead for the Champions Trophy it will host in February. It was unchanged from the three-wicket win on Tuesday in Paarl, made to bat first, and minus both openers in the first 10 overs. Rizwan was smashed on the back of his helmet by debutant pacer Kwena Maphaka but gathered his senses with Babar in a steady but safe stand of 115. The partne
