Nigerian woman held in Bengaluru with ₹10 cr worth MDMA crystals

A foreign national was arrested in connection with a case of drug peddling here and over 5.3 kg of banned MDMA crystals worth Rs 10 crore was seized from her, police said on Friday. The woman, said to be a Nigerian was held following a tip-off on June 10 by the Central Crime Branch's anti-narcotics wing that she was trying to sell drugs in Tarahunase village near Rajanukunte, they said. During interrogation, she told police that she came to New Delhi on October 4, 2021, on a student visa to study at a college in Telangana state. But when verified, it was revealed that she was not enrolled in that particular college, a senior police officer said. "The woman claimed that she was unable to earn enough to lead a lavish life and so got involved in drug peddling along with her friend. She used to hide these MDMA crystals in new dress piece materials, transported them from Delhi to Bengaluru by bus and supplied it to local drug peddlers in Bengaluru," he said. Raja's killers planned to murder woman, pass body as that of Sonam: Police

The killers of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi had a plan to murder any random woman and burn her body to pass it as that of his wife Sonam so that she would be able to be in hiding for a few more days till the truth is known, a senior police officer of Meghalaya said here on Thursday. The police also found out that Raj Kushwaha, boyfriend of Sonam, was the mastermind in the murder plot and she is the co-conspirator. On the first day of interrogation of Sonam, her suspected boyfriend Raj and three others, who were arrested in connection with the killing of the Indore-based businessman, also revealed that she fled from Meghalaya in a burqa and reached the Madhya Pradesh city using various modes of transport like taxi, bus and train. The conspiracy to eliminate Raja was hatched in Indore, shortly before his wedding with Sonam on May 11, and the mastermind is Raja while the woman had agreed to the plot, East Khasi Hills district Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem told PTI.

The Andhra Pradesh police has busted an alleged international cyber fraud syndicate operating from Achyutapuram here, with the arrest of 33 people and seized high-end tech equipment and Rs 3 lakh cash. Anakapalli district Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vishnu Swaroop led simultaneous raids at three major locations on Thursday following a complaint from a Village Revenue Officer and intelligence inputs. The 27 Naxalites, including 12 women, killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district were dreaded cadres carrying a cumulative bounty of Rs 3.33 crore in the state, an official has said. In one of the biggest strikes on Naxalites, security forces gunned down Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju, the general secretary of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist), and 26 other cadres during an encounter in the forested Abhujmad along Bijapur-Narayanpur inter-district border on Wednesday. Two jawans of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) of the state police also lost their lives during the operation. Of the killed cadres, one was identified on Wednesday as Basavaraju (70), who carried a reward of Rs 1 crore in Chhattisgarh. J-K DGP visits Kishtwar encounter site, reviews anti-terror operation

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Thursday visited Kishtwar district to review the ongoing anti-terror operation, and assess the ground situation and operational strategy. He visited the Singhpora- Chatroo area, where a major anti-terror operation is underway, police spokesperson said. Manipur Police have denied the existence of 'Kuki Zo Village Volunteers Eastern Zone' group which had issued a directive threatening members of the Meitei community against entering Kuki areas during the upcoming state-level tourism event of 'Shirui Lily Festival'. The Bombay High Court on Friday came down heavily on the Maharashtra government for not registering an FIR against five policemen over the custodial death of Akshay Shinde, accused in the Badlapur school sexual assault case, despite the court's explicit orders. The HC had on April 7 said when a prima facie offence is disclosed, it is mandatory for the police to register a case. The court had constituted a special investigation team under the supervision of Lakhmi Gautam, Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime. Meghalaya Police bust 'infiltration racket' with arrest of 3 from Mumbai

The Meghalaya Police on Sunday claimed to have busted a criminal network facilitating illegal entry into the country and identity forgery, with the arrest of three suspected Bangladesh nationals from Mumbai. The three accused, including a woman, were nabbed from Koparkhairane, Ulwe and Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Marg in South Mumbai, after a week-long hunt by police personnel of Meghalaya and Maharashtra, a senior officer said. Kasganj gang-rape case: Survivor testifies in court, DNA tests begin
