Sundaram Home Finance eyes Rs 300 crore disbursements in Rajasthan

Sundaram Home Finance has strengthened its presence in Rajasthan under its plan to expand in select geographies as it eyes disbursements of Rs 300 crore over the next two to three years, a top official has said. The Chennai-based company offers home loans, plot loans, home improvement and extension loans and loans against property. It had recently strengthened its presence in Western parts of the country. A new branch was inaugurated in Kota, Rajasthan, and another branch is also planned in Udaipur in the coming months, the company said in a statement on Friday. Sundaram Finance has branches in Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur in the Rajasthan market and believes that there is potential to register disbursements of around Rs 300 crore in the next two-three years. Avaada Energy inks refinancing deal worth Rs 4,471 crore with NaBFID

Avaada Energy on Thursday said it closed a refinancing deal of Rs 4,471 crore with National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID) for its four solar projects in Rajasthan. The financing from NaBFID will enable Avaada Energy to prepay existing loans to multiple lenders. The facility, sanctioned and disbursed as a 20-year rupee term loan, achieves significant commercial improvements over the earlier facilities prepaid, the company said in a statement. "Avaada Energy is pleased to announce the successful closure of one of the largest refinancing transactions in India's renewable energy sector, securing about Rs 4,471 crore (USD 535 million) from the state-owned lender NaBFID," the statement said. This refinancing transaction, conducted under Restricted Group (RG) structure, encompasses four inter-state transmission system-connected solar projects with a combined capacity of 1,700 MWp. Record Rs 800 cr worth of cash, liquor seized in Rajasthan ahead of polls

Over 800 crore worth of cash, liquor, precious metals and other suspected inducements were seized by different enforcement agencies in Rajasthan ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. According to the data released by the Election Commission, Rajasthan ranks first in the country in terms of seizure of inducements. State Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said that a record Rs 812.77 crore worth of seizures have been made since March 1. These include cash worth Rs 36.79 crore, liquor worth Rs 41.71 crore, drugs worth Rs 121.79 crore, gold and silver including other precious metals worth Rs 49.21 crore, freebies worth more than Rs 563 crore and other suspicious items. Seizures worth more than Rs 20 crore each were made in 20 districts of the state. Gupta said that the value of goods and cash seized since March 16, after the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha general elections, is more than Rs 712 crore. 152 candidates left in fray for 2nd phase of Lok Sabha polls in Rajasthan

Thirty-one candidates withdrew their nominations on Monday, leaving 152 in the fray for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan, officials said. With this, a total of 266 candidates -- 114 in first phase and 152 in second phase -- are in the contest for the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies of Rajasthan. Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said 31 candidates from 10 out of 13 Lok Sabha constituencies under the second phase withdrew their nomination papers on Monday, the last day for withdrawal. Interestingly, Congress candidate from Banswara Arvind Damor did not withdraw his nomination paper despite the party's decision to support Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP). LS elections: 53.5 mn voters in Rajasthan, 4.5 mn up since 2019 polls

A total of 5.35 crore voters are registered in Rajasthan for the Lok Sabha elections. Of these, 1.40 crore are service voters. During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, 4.89 crore voters were registered. The total number of voters in the state has increased by 45.51 lakh. Rajasthan Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said on Friday that the voter lists of all 25 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state have been published. He said out of all the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state, Pali has the highest number of registered voters at 23.48 lakh and Dausa Lok Sabha constituency has the least number of voters at 19.03 lakh. Gupta said as compared to 2019 Lok Sabha elections, there has been a total increase of 45.5 lakh voters. During this period, the number of male voters has increased by 23.13 lakh and the number of female voters by 22.37 lakh and the number of third gender voters increased by 361. Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan will be held in two phases, on April 19 and April 26.

Amid the heat of the ongoing Lok Sabha electioneering, the Centre has announced plans to significantly increase wheat purchase from non-traditional states of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar and set a target of seven-fold jump in procurement to 50 lakh tonnes in the ongoing 2024-25 marketing year. Further, even as the ban on outbound shipments of wheat continues, "it will be a dream for us to export now", Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra told reporters on Thursday. "UP, Bihar, and Rajasthan have been contributing much less than they could have. We are targeting total wheat procurement of 310 lakh tonne this year. Of which, we are hoping to procure at least 50 lakh tonne from three non-traditional procurement states alone," he said. 27 candidates file nominations for second phase of LS polls in Rajasthan

Twenty-seven candidates, including Rajasthan BJP chief C P Joshi, filed their nomination papers for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in the state on Tuesday, a senior official said. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Praveen Gupta said that so far 54 candidates have submitted 89 nominations for the second phase of the elections which will be held on April 26. He said not a single nomination has been received for the Bagidora assembly bypoll which will also be held on April 26. The last date for filing nomination papers for the second phase of Lok Sabha polls is April 4.
