He said NPCI is also in talks with private banks to issue Rupay Credit Cards
The banks which are working on the credit card includes public sector banks and a cooperative bank
It is set to emerge as the dominant player in debit cards issuance
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has enabled over 200 District Central Co-operative Banks (DCCBs) under RuPay Debit Card network. With this now NPCI has digitised about two-thirds of 675 districts in the country through its network of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs). NPCI also stated that there are over 280 million RuPay card holders who have an access to 2.2 lakh plus ATMs and over 1.2 lakh point of sale (PoS) terminals across the country.
Delay in launch because NPCI now working on a higher capacity financial technology infrastructure
Initial focus to be on two variants - regular and platinum; it will gradually extend portfolioto co-branded cards
