: Amara Raja Infra Pvt Ltd (ARIPL), part of the USD 1.75 billion Amara Raja Group, has accomplished a significant achievement by securing a new solar project worth USD 130 million in Bangladesh. A press release from Amara Raja said the venture serves as ARIPL's entry into the international solar market, marking a new milestone for the company. The scope of the project which consists of Engineering, Design, Supply, Installation, and Commissioning of a 100 MW (AC) Solar PV Power Plant will be funded by the Exim Bank of India, it said. ARIPL, in collaboration with Premier Solar of Hyderabad, secured the project from Rural Power Company Ltd (RPCL) in Bangladesh. The project spans 326 acres at Madarganj in Jamalpur District and will be completed in the next 18 months. After the project is commissioned, ARIPL will also provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services for two years, along with warranty spares and consumables. The Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology in collaboration with the School of Energy Science & Engineering under IIT Guwahati installed a solar-wind power plant in Papum Pare district on Friday. The 10-KW hybrid plant system was set up at Rural Technology Demonstration Centre (RTDC) in Kimin. The system has a four-blade horizontal axis wind turbine of 5 KW capacity installed at 12-metre height from the ground level and another 5 KW-capacity solar photovoltaic panels, officials said. The energy generated from the plant would be monitored using a hybrid charge controller and would be stored in a battery bank. Maruti Suzuki India on Monday said it has initiated work on two new solar power plants at the company's facilities to strengthen its commitment to carbon neutrality. The two solar power plants, namely 1.85 MWp at R&D Centre, Rohtak, and 20 MWp at Manesar will be commissioned in FY 2023-24 and FY 2024-25, respectively, the auto major said in a statement. Realty firm Gaurs Group has set up a 15 MW solar power plant near Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh with an investment of Rs 80 crore. The electricity produced by the plant will be integrated into the central grid and utilised for its real estate projects, the company said in a statement. Delhi-NCR-based Gaurs Group has established a 15 MW solar power plant at Mahoba near Gwalior. The project is spread over a 50-acre area. "Built with an investment of Rs 80 crore, the plant will generate 2.25 crore units of electricity annually. The project's capacity can be enhanced as per future requirements," the statement said. "We have received a Letter of Award (LoA) from one of India's leading steel manufacturing companies for the execution of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) works of a solar power project of 221.8 MWp DC capacity," it said in a BSE filing. The order is placed by a renewable energy arm of one of India's leading steel manufacturing companies. The project is likely to be completed in FY 2023-24, as per the terms of the contract. Deployment of new wind and solar power plants needs to be drastically ramped up by the end of the decade to meet the world's climate goals, the International Renewable Energy Agency said Tuesday. In an advance preview of its annual report on the global shift from fossil fuels to clean energy, the agency said renewables accounted for 83 per cent of new power generation last year. Worldwide, the share of installed power generation coming from renewables reached 40 per cent in 2022, it said. But in order to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and put the world on track to cap global warming at 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit), existing targets for renewable power deployment would need to be more than doubled, the Abu Dhabi-based agency said. Governments agreed in the 2015 Paris climate accord to limit the global temperature rise to 2 C (3.6 F) ideally no more than 1.5 C above pre-industrial averages. India's total installed renewable energy capacity touched 168.96 GW mark by February 2023-end, Parliament was informed on Tuesday. Out of the total 168.96 GW, 64.38 GW is solar power capacity, 51.79 GW hydro, 42.02 GW wind and 10.77 GW bio power, R K Singh, Union Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy, said in Rajya Sabha. Another 82.62 GW of green energy capacity is under implementation and 40.89 GW of capacity is under various stages of tendering, he said in a written reply to the upper House. A total of 3,16,754.86 MU of electricity has been generated from renewable energy sources during the current year 2022-23 (up to January 2023), Singh said. According to the minister, India's total power generation capacity was at 412.21 GW as on February 28, 2023. The government's aim is to achieve 500 GW of installed electricity capacity from non-fossil sources by 2030.
The National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) and Jodhpur Discom have signed an agreement to set up 11 solar power plants at six places in a section of the Amritsar-Bhatinda-Jamnagar Expressway passing through Rajasthan. The Punjab government has decided to install solar power photovoltaic (PV) projects with a total capacity of 300 megawatt in the state. These projects include 200 MW canal-top solar PV power projects and 100 MW floating solar PV power projects on the reservoirs and lakes, said an official statement while giving details of the decision taken in a high-level meeting held here on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Punjab New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister Aman Arora. The proposed 200 MW canal-top solar project would be installed in a phased manner, under which 50 MW would be installed in the first phase, while projects of remaining capacity would be installed in subsequent phases, Arora added. These projects will be executed in build, operate and own (BOO) mode by the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA), he said. While discussing in the meeting, the feasibility of setting up these projects, the minister said, viability gap funding (VGF) has been proposed to be claimed from
