Asiad medallist struggling for govt job despite assurance

Asian Games silver-medallist Sudha Singh has claimed that she is struggling for a government job despite being given an assurance regarding the same by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.The 32-year-old, however, added that she has full faith in the Chief Minister and that he would take a decision in the matter keeping her welfare in mind.Speaking to ANI, Singh said, "I had met the Chief Minister after winning a silver medal in Asian Games. Manoj Tiwary slams Manjrekar after 'slow over rate' tweet

Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary Wednesday slammed Sanjay Manjrekar after the former India cricketer criticised his team for slow over rate during a Vijay Hazare match. Taking exception to Manjrekar's post that Bengal had taken over four hours to bowl the quota of 50 overs, Tiwary listed out reasons for the delay and said it would have been better if he had called up the management of the two teams to find out. Jayaram enters second round of Chinese Taipei Open

Indian shuttler Ajay Jayaram staved off a spirited challenge from Japan's Hashiru Shimono to enter the second round of the Chinese Taipei BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament here on Wednesday. Jayaram, who had reached the finals at Vietnam Open and White Nights, defeated Hashiru 18-21 21-17 21-9 within an hour to set up a second-round clash with Denmark's Kim Bruun next. However, young Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli couldn't cross the opening hurdle, despite giving her everything as she went down 21-23 20-22 to Lin Ying Chun of Chinese Taipei. Among others, Abhishek Yeligar and Mugdha Agrey too flopped in the opening round as they went down without a fight. Sehwag, Afridi and McCullum to be icons for T10 league

Former India opener Virender Sehwag has been named as one of the icons for the T10 League, world's first Ten-Over league which is set to get underway on November 23. Apart from Sehwag, Pakistan's Shahid Afridi and former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum have also been named as the League icons of the second edition of the tournament, which has been sanctioned by the ICC and licensed by ECB. The 2018 edition will have 29 matches to be held over 10 days as compared to the four-day event in 2017. To meet this new challenge and also to keep the event clean, the T10 League management has made many positive changes such as short listing an experienced CEO, forming a new governing council, appointing umpires from the ICC panel and getting a global auditing firm. Venkatesh Prasad to coach Nangarhar in Afghanistan Premier League

Former India seamer and bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad will be the chief coach of Nangarhar franchise in the Afghanistan Premier League starting October 5. The inaugural edition will comprise five franchise -- Nangarhar Leopards, Kabul Zwanan, Paktia Panthers, Balkh Legends, Kandahar Knights.
