Tim Paine hopes to remain ODI captain

Australian skipper Tim Paine, who is under pressure in the wake of his poor batting record after being appointed as the captain, has said that he would try his best to continue to remain at his position.The 33-year-old further stated that even if he is stripped off the captaincy, he would continue to focus on his Test cricket and try to do well in the format."I am completely comfortable either way. Asian Games gold medallist Hima Das said said Saturday that she will continue to improve her timing and try to qualify for the Olympics in 2020. "There is only two years for the Olympics and I do not know whether I will qualify or not but I will continue trying to improve my timing," Das told reporters here. The ace sprinter from Assam, popularly called 'Dhing Express', further said that the Athletics Federation of India and Indian Olympic Association along with her coach will discuss and decide where she will train. Top seed Sameer Verma scored a fighting three-game win over compatriot RMV Gurusaitdutt to enter the final of the men's singles event at the Hyderabad Open badminton tournament here on Saturday. Skipper Mitchell Marsh batted responsibly for his unbeaten 86 as Australia A scored 290 for six on the opening day of the second unofficial 'Test' match. Tripura kickboxer Tracy Darlong who won gold medal in the 'Francaise Savate Championship' Saturday said her aim is to win gold in Olympic Games. The 20-year-old Darlong was felicitated by Tripura Tribal Welfare minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia at an event organised by the Darlong Students Union here for winning gold in kickboxing in 55kg category in the 'Francaise Savate Championship' which was held in Chandigarh recently. "I have been playing different games and sports in my village since childhood. There are many children who play games in the village. I am just another player like them. Confident India take on Maldives in SAFF Cup football

Defending champions India are high on confidence but will still have their task cut out when they lock horns with a tricky Maldives in the SAFF Cup football here Sunday. Despite starting their title defence in style against Sri Lanka, national coach Stephen Constantine on Saturday declared that his team "is not going to start as favourites in any of the matches" in this tournament. "We are not going to start as favourites in any of our matches. We are a young and inexperienced side and we are playing against senior sides. We can say we have a good chance to win this game. But I don't feel we can be labelled as favourites before the kick-off," he stated. The match is scheduled to be played at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
