The Football Association is considering putting England forward as a potential host for the 2030 World Cup, confirming today it has approved a feasibility study into becoming Europe's only bid. England, the home of the globally dominant Premier League, won the only World Cup the nation has ever hosted in 1966 but lost out in the race to host the 2006 and 2018 tournaments. "Last month the English FA board agreed to conduct feasibility work into the possibility of putting itself forward to be UEFA's potential candidate to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup," FA chairman Greg Clarke said in a statement. "This work will take place during the new season and no decision will be made until 2019." England went out in the first round of voting for the 2018 World Cup but the FA has made little secret of its interest in trying again, particularly as it now has more faith in the selection process of world governing body FIFA. With the World Cup growing from 32 to 48 teams in 2026, when the 80-game ...
Wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock hit an attacking 87 to guide South Africa to a four-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the second one-day international here today. Skipper Angelo Mathews made 79 off 111 balls while Niroshan Dickwella scored 69 to give the Sri Lankan total some respectability after they elected to bat first. "Excellent bowling performance, seemed like Sri Lanka would get 280-300 but we kept getting .

At stumps, Sam Curran was batting on 24 with James Anderson for company. In the final session of the day, India didn't begin well with England progressing as Jonny Bairstow (70 off 88 balls, 9x4s) brought up his 18th Test half-century off 72 balls. In doing so, he put on 105 runs with Root for the fourth wicket. Root and Bairstow got their runs off only 138 balls as England crossed 200 in the 62nd over and ...

It was Kohli's send-off to Root that caught attention. Root was looking set to get a big one but a brilliant piece of fielding from Kohli saw the right-hander getting run-out for 80. Root tried to steal a second run off Ravichandran Ashwin but Kohli ran quickly, picked up the ball and threw it in one swift motion to knock down the stumps with a direct hit. Former Australia batsman Mike Hussey today said India has the best chance to record a maiden Test series win Down Under later this year. India will face a weakened Australian batting line-up in the absence of David Warner and Steve Smith when the team plays four Tests in December-January. "I am a little worried about Australia's batting, because we are missing two of our best batsmen in Smith and Warner. It is a wonderful chance for India to win its first ever Test series in Australia," Hussey told reporters at a Karnataka Premier League event here. Warner, Smith and Cameron Bancroft are serving bans for their roles in the ball tampering scandal in South Africa. Hussey, however, said that Indian batsmen would still have to work hard if Australian bowlers led by Mitchell Starc fire at bouncy and pacy tracks. "If Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Nathon Lyon are fit and and firing, India will have to work hard for runs. Australia have an excellent bowling attack," he ...

The BCCI in its defence had said that the entire course of treatment and consultation that was carried out at the NCA was performed in co-ordination with the India team management and the GM of Operations.

It was a lucky breakthrough for India as their pacers found movement after the break. Ishant Sharma (0/37) and Shami bowled closer to the England batsmen and made them play more often with the latter reaping reward. England crossed the 100-run mark in the 36th ...

In the sample medical assessment form, there were columns to be filled about questions regarding habits like smoking and drinking, with clear questions about 'number of cigarettes per day' and 'number of glasses per day'. It is, however, not clear whether these questions on smoking and drinking habits are meant for athletes or team officials. It is likely that these questions are meant for team officials.
