PCB requests Australia, NZ to send teams to Pakistan for T20 series

The Pakistan Cricket Board has requested the Australian and New Zealand boards to send their teams to Pakistan to play the T20 matches instead of United Arab Emirates. An official source in the Pakistan board told PTI that during the ICC meet in Kolkata late last month, PCB Chairman, Najam Sethi and COO Subhan Ahmad had held talks with the Australian and New Zealand officials. The two boards have been requested to play the T20 matches of their series in Pakistan to help support the PCB in bringing back international cricket to the country, he said. SC agrees to reconsider 'one state, one vote' binding on BCCI

Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to reconsider 'one state, one vote' mandate that quashed the voting rights of regional affiliates of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).The apex court's three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, made the decision keeping in view the fact that cricket associates and former great players of many states have played historic roles which cannot be left out.The reconsideration means that, if the 2016 judgment is reversed, the states with multiple cricket associations such as Gujarat and Maharashtra can vote on a rotational basis. The top court also made it clear that until it finalises the BCCI constitution, no state association can hold elections. As a result, the election for the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has also been put on hold until May 11, the date of next hearing. In a landmark judgment on July 18, 2016, the SC had accepted major recommendations of Justice (Retd.) Roca seeks reaction as Bengaluru take on Aizawl

Needing a win to keep their hopes of making the knockout stages for a fourth straight season alive, Bengaluru FC host Aizawl FC in a crucial AFC Cup game here tomorrow. A shock 2-0 defeat to New Radiant in the Maldives last week meant Bengaluru's chances to make the zonal semifinal of the tournament don't entirely rest in their hands. Coach Albert Roca's Blues will have to win both of their remaining two fixtures in Group E while hoping that the Maldivian side drop points at least once. "We are in a situation where we could finish the group stages with 15 points and still find ourselves out of the Cup. But that's how football is sometimes and we need to accept it and focus on getting our side of the job done and then hope for the best," said the Spaniard. Wins in the next two games for both Bengaluru FC and New Radiant would leave the clubs square on points but a superior head-to-head goal difference gives Oscar Bruzon's side the edge they need to progress in the tournament. Roca, who

Ashwin's leadership is helping Mujeeb evolve: KXIP coach Hodge

Leadership plays an important role in a player's development and young Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman's improved performance has a lot to do with playing under the wings of Ravichandran Ashwin, Kings XI Punjab chief coach Brad Hodge insisted today. Ashwin in fact wanted the teenager to defend 17 runs against Delhi Daredevils at Kotla and he responded to his captain's call by restricting the opposition to 12 runs. "Mujeeb has shown a great level of composure. At such young age, he has confidence in his abilities. I would also give credit to Ashwin's leadership skills. He has been very encouraging. Good leaders help talented players get to the next level," Hodge told PTI during an interaction. For Hodge, it is important that Mujeeb is nurtured in a proper fashion as he is immensely talented.
