The 58th National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships (NISSAC) will now be held at the Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati, Assam from June 26 to June 29.The four-day competition will serve as the final selection trial for Indian athletes for the 18th Asian Games to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from August 18 to September 2, 2018.The decision to prepone the inter-state meet which was earlier scheduled to be held in the month of July in Kolkata was taken by the members of AFI planning commission and national coaches in Patiala on Sunday.AFI Deputy Chief Coach, Radhakrishnan Nair said, "The last date for sending final entries (entry by names) to the Organising Committee for Asian Games is 30 June 2018. Seven South Korean sports associations are considering forming joint teams with North Korea for this year's Asian Games in Indonesia, an official told AFP today - but reports said football will not be joining them. Australia trying to convince India for day-night Test in Adelaide
Cricket Australia is trying to convince India to begin their four-match Test series of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a day-night game at Adelaide from December 6-10. While releasing Australia's international playing schedule today, CA Chief Executive Officer James Sutherland said his Board is in discussions with the BCCI to convince them to play a day-night Test in Adelaide. "It is our preference that we play India in a day-night test match in Adelaide, but we are still working through this detail and hope to have an answer on this in the coming weeks," Sutherland said in a media release. India have not played a Test under lights though there is speculation that they might play a day-night Test against West Indies later in the year. Adelaide has hosted day-night Tests in the last three years against New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and England and they are hoping to stage another match under lights against India.
