Paartalu extends stay with Bengaluru FC

Australian midfielder Erik Paartalu has signed a new contract with Bengaluru FC which will keep him with the Blues until the end of the 2019-2020 season. Paartalu's signing comes a day after Bengaluru announced that they had extended the contract of goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu for a five-year period. Paartalu has been with the Blues since July 2017, during which time he has established himself as one of the most impressive midfielders in the Indian Super League, scoring five goals in the Blue shirt, while being a mainstay in Albert Roca's side. "It's been an amazing journey at Bengaluru FC so far. Without a shadow of doubt, signing for another two years was an easy decision to make for me. OGQ support for wrestler Vinesh Phogat

Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) today said it will support ace wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who is eyeing a podium finish at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The 23-year-old Vinesh currently competes in 50 kg freestyle wrestling and was earlier training under the JSW Sports Excellence programme. A silver winner at the recently-concluded Asian Wrestling Championship, Vinesh is also a 2014 Commonwealth Games champion, an Asian Games bronze medallist and a five-time Asian championship medallist. Ciriello aims to improve India's dragflicking abilities

Indian hockey team's analytical coach Chris Ciriello today said apart from improving dragflicking abilities, his task is also to inculcate winning habit among players. "This is a very good opportunity. I know India and understand its culture. I think we will get to taste lot of wins, but want to make sure these guys have an understanding of winning. Mitchell Santner sidelined with knee injury

In a major blow to New Zealand, in-form all-rounder Mitchell Santner has been ruled out of cricket for six to nine months due to a knee injury.The 26-year-old felt discomfort in his right knee during the recent limited-overs series against England and Australia and a scan at the time revealed a "bone defect".A further scan in recent days has shown that the defect had deteriorated further and that he would now require to undergo surgery to get it fixed.Santner will be operated on later this week, before he begin an extensive rehabilitation.Confirming the news, the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said that Santner experienced some discomfort while playing and now scans showed that a "bone defect" had deteriorated and is required him to undergo surgery."Mitchell is a key player in all three formats for us, so we'll certainly miss him in the upcoming series.
