Wenger worried as Arsenal fans stay away

Arsene Wenger admits Arsenal are struggling to win back their furious fans after thousands stayed away from the 3-0 Premier League win over Watford. For the second successive game at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal played in front of vast swathes of empty red seats on Sunday. Arsenal blamed heavy snow for the low attendance in their recent defeat against Manchester City, but the no-show against Watford could only be put down to a fatal combination of anger and apathy after another miserable season. "Must be -4 and snowing again at the Emirates," Manchester United legend Gary Neville, now a prominent pundit, tweeted soon after kick-off. But Wenger, as he fights to keep his job, conceded he could understand why Arsenal supporters are so frustrated by their team's wretched run. "There is a lot of negativity. It is like rain in England, it is easy to get," he said. "Of course I worry because I want our fans to be behind the team, but after what happened in that week it is ...

Woods comes up just short as Casey wins Valspar Championship

Tiger Woods came up just short of his 80th US PGA Tour title today at the Valspar Championship, where it was England's Paul Casey ending a victory drought with a one-stroke triumph. Woods, the 14-time major champion playing just his fourth Tour event since spinal fusion surgery last April, showed he's a contender again as he fired a one-under-par 70 to share second on nine-under 275 -- one stroke behind Casey who surged to his second US PGA Tour title with a 65 for 274. "I think I've gotten a little better than what I was a couple of weeks ago," Woods said. "I keep getting just a little better and a little sharper. Today I wasn't quite as sharp as I would like to have had it, but I had a good shot at winning this golf tournament." Woods' fusion surgery ended a brief comeback bid last year. He remains in search of his first title since 2013 -- but on Sunday it finally looked as if it wasn't a question of whether that drought will end but when. He opened with a birdie on the Copperhead .

World No. 1 Federer wins rain-delayed match

World number one Roger Federer picked up where he left off, winning the four games he needed to defeat Federico Delbonis today after their match was interrupted the night before by rain. Federer returned to stadium court today afternoon and needed an hour to finish off his second round victory 6-3, 7-6 (8/6). His title defence got off to a soggy start Saturday night when play was suspended because of rain showers with Federer up a set and tied 2-2 in the second. The storm clouds rolled in just before the start of their match on Saturday and after a short delay to start the first set they managed to play until the heavy rains came in the second. After another 90-minute delay organizers suspended play for the night. Federer is making his 17th appearance in the California desert and is assured of remaining world number one if he makes it to the semi-finals in Indian Wells. He extended his 2018 win streak to 13 matches and has only dropped three sets from 34 played this year. Federer will

It was another snag in the return for the 30-year-old Djokovic who admitted he was out of sorts while playing in just his second event of 2018. He is making a cautious return to the ATP Tour after stopping his 2017 season following Wimbledon, due to a right elbow injury. "For me it felt like first match I ever played on the tour. Very weird," Djokovic said. "I mean, I just completely lost rhythm, everything. Just struggled also a little bit with the health the last couple of weeks."
