Aditi Ashok misses cut at Australian Open golf

Aditi Ashok missed the cut in the Womens Australian Open after she shot a second successive 76 at the Kooyonga Golf Club here today. At eight-over 152, she was way off as the cut fell at 3-over 147. While the back nine of the course presented a problem for Aditi on the first day, it was the front stretch that was troublesome on the second day. She had three bogeys between fifth and eighth and turned in three-over. By then her slim chances of making the weekend were over. She shot two birdies against three bogeys on the back nine and exited early from the tournament. For a second consecutive day, Jin Young Ko dominated the event as she shot three-under 69 to build a three-shot lead over Australian Emma Taley, who has shot 68-69. 'Injured' Plunkett out of ODI series against Kiwis

England pacer Liam Plunkett has been ruled out of the end of the ongoing T20 Tri-series and subsequent five-match ODI series against New Zealand due to a recurrence of a hamstring injury.The 32-year-old, who made a return to the England team against New Zealand in Wellington earlier this week, aggravated the hamstring injury in the opening ODI against Australia in Sydney last month.Later, he was diagnosed with a grade one tear, but he remained with the team with the hope of featuring in the Trans-Tasman T20 series against Australia.However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) now confirmed that Plunkett would not recover in time to take part in the ODI series against New Zealand and that the fast bowler would now head home."An MRI scan today confirmed a minor hamstring strain and this will not recover in time to take part in the ODI series. Southern Railway mulls paperless initiative

The Southern Railways, as part of Green Initiative, will discontinue the practise of pasting of reservation charts on train coaches on a trial basis for six months from March one. However, the respective coach and berth number information would still be available at centralised locations in all the railway stations and also with the travelling ticket examiners, an official release said. By moving towards paperless initiative, the southern railway would be able to save 28 tonne of charting paper and Rs 1.70 lakh every year, the release said. Other efforts include encouraging E-ticketing for both reserved and unreserved tickets, it said.
