Kohli surpasses Raina, becomes highest-scoring Indian batsman in T20 format
Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has surpassed Chennai Super Kings batsman Suresh Raina to become the highest-scoring Indian batsman in the T20 format.Kohli played a knock of 67 runs off 53 deliveries in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Kings XI Punjab at PCA Stadium in Mohali on Saturday.The Indian captain scored eight boundaries which enabled his side to register an eight-wicket win over Punjab.The 30-year-old surpassed Raina's record in the ninth over of the RCB innings. Following a match-winning partnership with AB de Villiers , RCB all-rounder Marcus Stoinis said batting alongside the South African great made his job a lot easier. Delhi Capitals names Jagadeesha Suchith as Harshal Patel's replacement
Delhi Capitals on Saturday named spinner Jagadeesha Suchith as the replacement for medium-pacer Harshal Patel for the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).Suchith, who hails from Karnataka, was previously part of Mumbai Indians in the IPL.The 25-year-old spinner has played 13 first-class matches in which he took 45 wickets. He has played 43 T20s as well, taking 37 wickets at an average of 25.54.Patel had suffered a fracture in his right hand in the game against Kings XI Punjab on April 1 and was ruled out for 3-4 weeks.As per IPL rules, the replacement player cannot exceed the amount that was being paid to the original player. Plea in HC challenges DDCA's selection of U-16 cricket squad for Delhi
A plea has been moved in the Delhi High Court challenging selection of the under-16 cricket team by cricketing body DDCA to represent the national capital in zonal and national level tournaments. The plea has challenged validity of the selection process by which the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) selected a 15 member under-16 squad to represent the national capital in cricket tournaments at zonal and national level. The petition has alleged that the entire selection process was a "sham" and "violated principles of natural justice". Petitioner, Arun Hamrol has claimed that the three-member Selection Committee appointed by DDCA's Cricket Committee had on three separate dates between October 1, 2018 and October 5, 2018 called several hundred young players for trials and on each occasion gave them "hardly a minute" to prove their abilities. Superintendent of Police (rural area) Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said during the cricket match, three bikers reached the spot and fired at Prince Mavi, injuring him in his right elbow, and fled. FC Goa emerged as champions of the Hero Super Cup after defeating Chennaiyin 2-1 in a tense final at the Kalinga Stadium here Saturday. Ferran Corominas opened the scoring in the 51st minute with a simple tap-in, while Raphael Augusto's deflected effort brought Chennaiyin back level. Brandon Fernandes scored a goal befitting of a title winner in the 64th minute to seal the contest in Goa's favour. Despite Goa being billed as the favourites to take home the crown, it was Chennaiyin, who started the game as the better of the two sides.
