Elon Musk wants his Starlink to beam down wireless internet in India from satellites orbiting the earth, but the licensing regime his group favours has put him at odds with Mukesh Ambani's Reliance. After meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York last week, Musk on June 21 said he was keen to launch Starlink in India that "can be incredibly helpful" in bringing the internet to remote villages that lack on-ground infrastructure. But Starlink wants India to just assign a license for the service and not insist on auctioning the signal-carrying spectrum or airwaves. This stand finds Musk on the side of Tatas, Sunil Bharti Mittal's firm, and Amazon, who too prefer the same route. But Ambani's Reliance says there must be an auction of spectrum for foreign satellite service providers to offer voice and data services to provide a level playing field to traditional telecom players who offer the same services using airwaves bought in government auctions. Two companies -- Tata Play, formerly known as Tata Sky, and drone maker ideaForge Technology -- have received capital markets regulator Sebi's approval to raise funds through initial public offerings (IPOs). Tata Play, the first company in India to use the confidential pre-filing of draft papers option for an initial share sale in December 2022, obtained the regulator's observation letter on April 26. IdeaForge Technology, which filed its preliminary papers with the regulator in February this year, got its observation letter on April 13, an update with Sebi showed on Tuesday. In the Securities and Exchange Board of India's (Sebi's) parlance, its observation implies its go-ahead to launch the IPO. Under the pre-filing route, there is no pressure on the company to go for an IPO, experts said. Moreover, unlike the traditional route where companies have to launch the IPO within 12 months from the Sebi approval, or final observation; in the pre-filing route, an IPO can be floated withi

However, when asked about media report suggesting that his daughter Jayanti Chauhan is ready to lead the company, the 82-year-old pioneer of the Indian packaged water business declined to comment. Earlier in November last year, Chauhan had said he was in discussions with several players, including TCPL, to sell out his Bisleri business.
