IPO-bound Oyo partners Yatra to expand its business travel offerings

IPO-bound travel-tech unicorn OYO on Thursday announced its partnership with travel agent platform Yatra to strengthen its presence in the business travel segment particularly in key centres such as Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru. As part of this alliance, more than 500 company serviced hotels of OYO have already been on-boarded for the first time on Yatra's platform. It includes hotels under mid-premium and premium brands such as SUNDAY, Palette, Clubhouse, Townhouse, Townhouse Oak and Collection O for business travellers across India. OYO is planning to add 1,000 more company serviced hotels for booking on Yatra's platform by September this year, the company said in a statement. This will strengthen Yatra's inventory, especially in emerging metros where the demand for quality accommodation is surging due to increased business travel, it added. Almost 50 per cent of Gen Z in India are planning for their first independent international trip, reveals a new survey, with over 80 per cent of them choosing to embark only after cashing in their first paycheck. The survey, conducted by the global travel marketplace Skyscanner, said while two in three young Indians are diligently saving, only one in five utilise buy-now-pay-later options to make their travel dreams a reality sooner. "There is a strong desire for travel among India's Gen Z (aged 18-25). Nearly half (47 per cent) of them are eagerly planning leisure trips abroad, without their parents or guardians, fueled by their deep desire for exploration and new adventures (49 per cent)," said the report. Car sharing marketplace Zoomcar and EaseMyTrip on Tuesday announced a partnership allowing users to book self-drive cars on the latter's online travel platform. With this partnership Zoomcar's wide range of self-drive cars has been seamlessly integrated into the EaseMyTrip platform, allowing users to book their preferred Zoomcar directly from the EaseMyTrip app offering travellers convenience and flexibility in planning their journeys, the two companies said in a statement. Global digital travel platform Agoda will continue the accelerated rate of onboarding of accommodation properties in India, its fastest-growing market and a global travel powerhouse, its CEO Omri Morgenshtern said on Tuesday. MakeMyTrip posts $2 million profit in Sep quarter on elevated travel demand

Travel services provider MakeMyTrip on Tuesday reported a profit of USD 2 million for the September quarter, on the back of sustained elevated travel demand in India. The company, listed on Nasdaq, had reported a loss of USD 6.8 million in the year-ago period, it said in a regulatory filing. It also reported an EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) of USD 13.5 million for the quarter under review, as against USD 10.7 million in the second quarter of FY23. "We witnessed strong growth both in terms of Gross Bookings and profitability despite the second quarter of fiscal year being a seasonally weaker quarter for leisure travel. For Q2 FY24, Gross Bookings grew by 23.8 per cent YoY (Year-on-Year) in constant currency to USD 1.8 billion from USD 1.5 billion in Q2 FY23," the company stated. Rapido aims to rope in over 200 women as auto-rickshaw 'captains'

Bike and auto-rickshaw aggregator Rapido has drawn up plans bring on board 200 women drivers over the next three months, the company said on Friday. Currently, Rapido Auto has engaged 50 female 'captains' hailing from diverse backgrounds in the city for its ride-hailing service, and it aims add more than 200 active captains in the next three months through collaborations with various Coimbatore-based non-governmental organisations, the company said in a release. Rapido will equip the women captains with essential safety and driving skills through the comprehensive training programme in collaboration with the NGOs. Yatra Online IPO receives 30% subscription on second day of bidding

The initial public offer of travel company Yatra Online received a 30 per cent subscription on the second day of the issue on Monday. The Rs 775-crore IPO received bids for 94,27,005 shares against 3,09,42,356 shares on offer, according to NSE data. The category for retail individual investors (RIIs) was subscribed 1.34 times while the quota for non-institutional investors received a 9 per cent subscription and the qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) portion was subscribed 6 per cent. The initial public offer has a fresh issue of up to Rs 602 crore and an offer for sale of up to 1,21,83,099 equity shares. The price range for the offer is Rs 135-142 a share. Easy Trip Planners Q1 profit down 22% to Rs 26 cr, revenue at Rs 124 cr

Online travel service provider Easy Trip Planners Ltd on Monday reported a 21.82 per cent decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 25.9 crore for the June quarter. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 33.13 crore in the year-ago quarter, Easy Trip Planners, which operates under the brand EaseMyTrip, said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated revenue from operations during the first quarter of the current fiscal stood at Rs 124.05 crore, as against Rs 87.58 crore a year ago, it added. Total expenses were higher at Rs 91.56 crore, as compared to Rs 47 crore in the same period a year ago, the company said.
