Will the daughters get justice in this atmosphere of fear: Vinesh Phogat

Asian Games gold medallist and one of the prominent faces of the wrestlers' protest against WFI chief, Vinesh Phogat on Thursday wondered if the country's daughters would get justice in this "atmosphere of fear and intimation". Phogat's tweet came days after the 'minor', whose complaint had formed basis of FIR against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh under the POCSO Act withdrew her sexual harassment allegations against the outgoing WFI president. "Will the daughters get justice in the atmosphere of fear and intimidation???" Vinesh wrote on her Twitter handle. In another tweet, she said, "May these daughters not lose courage one by one because of the delay in this fight for justice??? God give courage to all." The minor wrestler's father told PTI that they levelled sexual harassment charges against Singh because he wanted to settle score with the WFI chief, who he held responsible for his daughter's defeat in trials for the Under 17 Asian Championships. The country's top wrestlers, including Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, along with hundreds of their supporters, reached Har ki Pauri to immerse their medals in the Ganga river even as police beefed up security arrangements near the area here on Tuesday. Vinesh Phogat playing role of Manthara: WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh

BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment by seven women wrestlers, on Tuesday sought to equate grappler Vinesh Phogat with Manthara, a character in the Hindu epic Ramayana. The Ramayana says Manthara, who was queen Kaikeyi's maid, convinced her the throne of Ayodhya belonged to her son Bharat and that her step son and crown-prince Ram should be exiled from the kingdom. "The role that Manthara-Kaikeyi played in the Treta yug, similarly Vinesh Phogat is playing the role of Manthara for me," Singh told a public meeting here. He added that earlier thousands of wrestlers were staging protests against him, but now only three husband-wife pairs are left. There is no seventh, he said. "The day the results are out, I will thank Manthara also." The Delhi Police has registered two FIRs against Singh after he was accused of sexual harassment by women wrestlers, and is probing the case. "The wrestlers who were staging .

People from 360 Delhi villages to express solidarity at wrestlers' protest

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said representatives from 360 villages in Delhi, including MLAs and councillors, will visit Jantar Mantar on Wednesday to express solidarity with the protesting wrestlers. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, AAP Delhi unit convener Gopal Rai said the wrestlers who brought fame for the country have been braving adverse weather conditions. The wrestlers have been staging a sit-in since April 23 over allegations of sexual harassment against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. "Yesterday they sat there in heavy rains. The prime minister has no time to listen to them. SC (Supreme Court) had to direct that an FIR be registered. Even the sports minister is not ready to hear their pleas," he said. Rai accused the BJP of being busy in maligning them. "They are trying to malign the movement. They were not allowed to put up tents. They are not allowed to put up microphone system. The whole nation is watching it. People are
