Several city halls in Germany were evacuated on Tuesday over emails threatening bomb attacks, police said. Police confirmed that the city halls in Augsburg, Kaiserslautern, Goettingen, Neunkirchen and Rendsburg were affected. Officers were combing the areas surrounding the concerned buildings for suspicious items, but have turned up nothing yet. The sender of the threats remains unidentified. The evacuation has also impacted traffic in some places, including in Goettingen where public transport was diverted around the city hall. Likewise in Augsburg, some tram and bus services have been halted. The latest scare came after more than 100 threatening emails were apparently sent by far-right sympathisers to lawyers, politicians, journalists and even a pop star. Some of the emails contained bomb and other death threats, or boasted of being in possession of guns and biological weapons, German media reported. Police have confirmed that they were investigating the threats.
An official with the US-backed force in Syria says gunmen have attacked one of their checkpoints in the northern town on Manbij, killing seven fighters. Sharfan Darwish, of the Kurdish-led Manbij Military Council, told The Associated Press that the Tuesday morning attack hit a checkpoint at one the entrances of Manbij. He says it's unclear who was behind the attack and added that the "martyrs were carrying out their mission of protecting Manbij." The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor, said sleepers cells of the Islamic State group carried out the attack. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack but in January, IS claimed a suicide attack in Manbij that killed 19 people, including two US service members and two American civilians.

Four Naxals were killed in an encounter with security forces here on Tuesday morning, an official statement said."The security forces recovered bodies of four Naxals in uniform following the encounter," it said.The encounter took place during a search operation near Bimapuram area of Jagargunda village in Sukma district, the statement said.The troops also found one INSAS and two 303 rifles during the search operation, it said.
Four Naxals were gunned down in an encounter with security forces on Tuesday in the insurgency-hit Sukma district in Chhattisgarh, police said. The encounter took place around 6 AM in a forest in the Chintalnar police station area, Deputy Inspector General (anti-Naxal operations) Sundarraj P told PTI. An elite unit of the CRPF's Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) was cordoning off the forest area near Karkanguda village, around 500 km away from the state capital, when a group of Naxals started firing on them, leading to a gun-battle, he said. In the encounter, four Naxals were killed. One INSAS rifle and two .303 rifles were recovered from the spot, he said. Further details were awaited, he added. A man wanted in over two dozen robbery cases was arrested here following a gunfight with police on Monday night, officials said. While Tazim Hasan was arrested, his two associates managed to flee during the encounter in Transport Nagar, under Phase III police station area, the police said. "Hasan carried a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. He was wanted since October 2018. He was injured in an encounter with the police tonight," Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibha Krishna said. Hasan, along with his associates, was wanted in 25 cases of robbery and loot in Delhi-National Capital Region, the SSP added. A firearm, along with ammunition, was seized from him, the police said. The gunfight ensued after a police team asked the motorcycle-borne accused to stop for checking. Instead of stopping, they opened fire on the police team, which retaliated, officials said. Tazim sustained bullet injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, they said.

A 32-year-old salesman sustained bullet injuries Monday after two unidentified persons opened fire at an electronics store in Najafgarh area, police said. According to a senior police officer, two men opened fire at the electronics store around 7.20 pm and fled the spot. A salesman, Naveen Chauhan, was injured in the firing. He has been hospitalised, police said. Chauhan is out of danger.

Four gunmen looted Rs 14.29 lakh from two employees of an LPG agency in Bihar's Bhagalpur district Monday, police said. The incident occurred at a place under Vishwavidyalaya police station limit when the two employees of the agency were going on a two-wheeler to deposit the cash in a nationalised bank. Four men in two motorbikes intercepted them, snatched the bag containing the money at gun point and fled, police said. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajvansh Singh said an FIR has been lodged in this regard and efforts are on to arrest the culprits.
A statue of Dalit icon B R Ambedkar was vandalised by unidentified miscreants in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district on Monday, police said. Protests broke out at Kasampur Bhooma village in Jansath area when people found out about the incident, the police said. The damaged statue was replaced with a new one on the same day. The police in Goa have been put on alert over a possible attack on Israeli tourists visiting the state to avenge shootings at Christchurch mosques in New Zealand over a week ago, a senior official said Monday. The alert has been issued after receiving inputs from central intelligence agencies, he said. "We have kept a strict vigil around the areas which are frequented by Israelis after the Christchurch mosques attack in New Zealand," said the senior police official said. Security has been stepped up around places frequented by Israelis following inputs from central intelligence agencies about possible revenge attack on them, he said. The official said Goa is among several states which have been put on alert to thwart any attack on Israelis. More than 50,000 police personnel of Telangana police, besides central paramilitary forces, have been deployed to ensure free, fair and peaceful conduct of the Lok Sabha polls, a top police official said here Monday. These forces would be in place in 33 districts as part of bandobust for the polls, he said. "We are working on the Election Commission guidelines and our effort is to see that elections are conducted in a free, fair, peaceful manner and without any incident," Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Jitender told reporters here. There are a total of 34,667 polling stations in Telangana, with 6,394 identified as critical. Egyptian prosecutors have referred 28 terror suspects in two separate cases to court on charges of joining local affiliates of the Islamic State group and al-Qaida. They said Monday the suspects were plotting attacks against security forces and the headquarters of the high state prosecution in Cairo. They say only 17 of the 28 suspects are in custody. No date has been set for their trials. It was not clear when or where they were arrested. An IS affiliate based in northern Sinai has carried out attacks across Egypt in recent years, mainly targeting security forces and the country's Christian minority. Egypt has been battling Islamic militants for years, but the insurgency gathered strength after the 2013 military overthrow of an elected but divisive Islamist president.
The CRPF will procure a new fleet of mine protected vehicles (MPVs) and small 30-seater buses to ensure safety of its troop convoys in the Kashmir Valley, the chief of the force has said. The paramilitary has also decided to enhance the number of its bomb detection and disposal squads (BDDS) for its about 65 battalions based in the Kashmir Valley for anti-terror and law and order duties.
