A Palestinian was killed by Israeli fire in new clashes along the Gaza border on Friday, the health ministry in the Hamas-controlled territory said. Twelve villagers were killed and 14 wounded in an attack by suspected jihadists on a village in a gas-rich region of northern Mozambique, a local source told AFP on Friday. Since October, government plans to exploit the country's gas reserves have been thrown into doubt by an explosion of bloodthirsty assaults in the region where the industry plans to base its hub. "Ten people were shot (dead) by firearms and two burnt (to death)," the source said of the violence which took place late Thursday in Paqueue village which lies close to the Quirimbas tourist archipelago. A 60-year-old man was killed and seven others were injured in a group clash in Tirnai Khijirpur village on Friday morning, police said. Rival factions of the same caste clashed over a trivial issue arising out of a quarrel between children, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sriparna Ganguli said. Eight persons of both sides were injured, of which one person succumbed to his injuries, the SP said. The injured were admitted to a hospital, she said.
