The Maharashtra State Khadi Gramodyog Board made a presentation in regards to the Sant Shiromani Gorobakaka Maharashtra Clay Art Board, a new body set up by the government, to Mungantiwar at a meeting here yesterday. Representatives of the khadi gramodyog board and members of potters' association were also present in the meeting. The government, in the last budget, had announced setting up of the Sant Shiromani Gorobakaka Maharashtra Clay Art Board to provide training in making various clay items. A deadline for Afghans to register to vote in the October 20 legislative elections has been extended, officials said today, as figures show hundreds of civilians have already been killed or wounded in poll-related violence. Enrolment for the long-delayed parliamentary and district council elections began on April 14 and was originally scheduled to finish in mid-June. By Thursday, just over 1.5 million adults had signed up to vote, a spokesman for the Independent Election Commission (IEC) told AFP -- a fraction of the 14 million it had hoped to register during the two-month process. Restrictions have been imposed in parts of Srinagar in view of a protest called by Separatist today against civilian deaths in a clash between protestors and security forces after an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Sophian district. Separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was put under house arrest this morning, a police official said. Restrictions, under Section 144 of the CrPc, were imposed by authorities in five police station areas of the summer capital, the official said. A 22-year-old man was killed today after Pakistani troops resorted to firing from small arms on Indian Army posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, a police officer said. There was small arms firing by Pakistani troops along the LoC in the district's Gulpur-Bagyal Dhara belt, the police officer told PTI. Five civilians have been shot dead in an alleged raid involving US forces in southern Somalia, elders said today. Two persons, who sustained severe burn injuries in a cylinder blast in Nagrota Surian yesterday, succumbed today, police said. The deceased were identified as Fouji Ram and Khaintho Ram. The bodies were handed over to the family members after postmortem, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kangra, said. At least 22 people, including women, were injured yesterday when the cylinder went off at a sweets shops near the Nagrota Surian bus stand here. A naxal was today killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh, officials said. The incident took place in a forest area near Dudagad village under Bakarkatta police station limits, they said. A combined team of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) was on a patrol duty, when the naxals opened fire on them, police officials in Rajnandgaon told PTI over phone. The security forces retaliated and the exchange of fire continued for a while. After some time, the rebels escaped into the interior parts of the forest. When the security forces searched the area, they found the body of the naxal. They also recovered a pressure bomb and some naxal-related material from the spot.
