A bomb blast tore through a market near a mosque in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province on Monday, killing one policeman, officials said. The explosion in the provincial capital Quetta occurred when people were assembling for prayers near the mosque. One policeman was killed and 10 people were injured, officials said. The attack came two days after a terrorist attack on a luxury hotel in the coastal town of Gwadar in which five people were killed while security forces gunned down the three terrorists who stormed the facility.
At least three people were killed and another 20 wounded in a series of blasts in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad on Monday, an official said. Nangarhar provincial spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said three blasts rocked the city centre, and had taken place near an armoured police vehicle. "The nature of explosions is not clear, but it could be IEDs," Khogyani said, using the acronym for improvised explosive devices. "So far we can confirm three people have been killed and 20 wounded."
